Donation to help shelter animals

CANASTOTA >> Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association recently received a donation of $4,000 from the John and Elaine MacDougall Foundation.

The foundation was created after the passing of John M. MacDougall in June of 2014 to continue his commitment to the Central New York community. MacDougall was the founder and former owner of the Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppes convenience store chain.

“We are very appreciative and excited for this funding, which will help with upgrading equipment for presenting our humane education program to reach children, high school and college students, including special interest presentations for law enforcement agencies and criminal justice students,” said Joanne Cronan-Hamoy, humane education and program coordinator at Wanderers’ Rest. “It will also be designed to enhance visual presentations at shelter events throughout the year, possibly increasing adoptions at off-site locations. Since we know members of the MacDougall family, this grant means even more to all of us.”
