Mercy Flight coverage expanding in Oneida County following agreement at legislator’s meeting.
UTICA, N.Y. >> The following is a brief summary of the March meeting of the Oneida County Board of Legislators.
Legislators approved a lease agreement between the county department of emergency services and Mercy Flight Central that will see a radio installed at the Florence radio tower in order to provide air medical services to Oneida County residents and visitors.
The board also approved:
• Purchase of services agreement between Oneida County Department of Social Services and the House of the Good Shepherd for a maximum cost of $538,375 for non-secure detention services to reserve five beds for court ordered youth either awaiting further court action or youth who are already adjudicated PINS of JDs.
•An increase in the expenses necessary to collect the mortgage tax receipts: section 262 of the tax law provides that recording officers and county treasurers shall be entitled to receive necessary expenses for the purpose of collecting tax receipts. Current costs associated with the collection of mortgage tax receipts are estimated to be $464,930 and the county clerk is requesting authorization to receive such amount.
•A purchase of services agreement between Oneida County Department of Social Services and the Neighborhood Center, Inc.for an amount not to exceed $230,297 to provide recruitment, home-finding, certification and training of family day care homes, as well as day care eligibility and day care placement activities;
•A right-of-way permit between Oneida County through its Office of Emergency Services and New York State Department of Transportation to allow Oneida County to proceed with construction of a radio tower on property located on Burrstone Road in the City of Utica, pending conveyance of the land to the county;
•A state funded grant of $15,000, to purchase a Voice Stress Analyzer to be used to investigate and solve child sexual abuse cases and to purchase a UFED Analyzer to be used to immediately analyze cell phones and tablets to see if they possess and disseminate pornographic images;
• An i ntermunic i - pal agreement between Oneida County Department of Emergency Services and the City of Utica Fire Department for $3,541.93, for training and exercise that will ensure public safety in the event of a hazardous materials incident.
The next meeting of the Oneida County Board of Legislators is schedule for Wednesday, April 12, at 2 p.m. in the county office building, 800 Park Ave., Utica, on the 10th floor.
