Prioritize the environment
Dear Representative Tenney, Thank you for responding to my letter expressing concern for climate change. Your reply focused on our appreciation for our nation’s natural beauty, wildlife, and the economic benefits that are derived from these blessings.
Though I heartily share your appreciation for nature, and also acknowledge that preserving the natural environment is important for financial reasons, I feel there are bigger things at stake. Life as we know it depends on stable ecosystems. I am dumbfounded when “job creation” trumps preserving ecosystems. Renewable energy, conservation, and better public transportation all offer job potential.
Unstable ecosystems brought on by climate change are a national security threat. I think it is the role of government to address climate change. Erratic weather systems, loss of polar ice and coral reefs, and rising sea level may already be unstoppable.
I amdismayed at the cabinet choices President Trump has made for the Environmental Protection Agency and Secretary of State. They are “foxes guarding the chicken coop,” in my opinion.
Republicans and Democrats in Congress must stand up to the parts of Trump’s agenda that are unabashedly pro-corporation. I hope you will examine carefully the proposals of the Trump Administration, and act with foresight to preserve our environment.

If you talk to enough people of various religions you find that people believe, for the most part, that their religion or belief system is ultimately the best for living in this world and for the next. And why would anyone change if he believed his belief system is the best?
I believe this country is so far gone and getting worse that no amount of love marches or vigils are going to change its downward direction. Witness the recent Disney animation of two young boys kissing. Walt Disney may be turning in his grave. Disney, a once family-oriented company, has now succumbed to the trends of culture. Disney, a role model to the nation’s young, has gone the way of the wind of destruction. Is this the kind of role model that is acceptable to parents? The citizens of this country are on board a ship that has sprung many leaks and is sinking fast; but most have not yet realized the grave danger about to happen.
If this analogy is true, which god can be turned to for safety and salvation? In the Holy Bible, God says “you shall have no other gods before me.” I see Jesus walking on the water headed to the sinking ship and crying with a loud voice, believe in me for “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but through me.” No other religion makes this claim of being the only way to heaven.
It seems to me that too many people squander their lives in belief systems and vigils and marches that account for nothing. And all will go down to Hell in the sinking boat. May God help us all.
