Henry C. ‘Hank’ Breen, 92, of Oneida
ONEIDA>> Henry C. “Hank” Breen, 92, of Kenwood Avenue, died Thursday, March 16, 2017 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family.
Born in Broadalbin on Oct. 14, 1924, he was the son of Henry E. and Amy Cruthers Breen. A resident of the area since 1960, he was a graduate of Broadalbin High School and later attended Utica College. During World War II, Hank served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater, under General Patton and was a Prisoner Of War and declared Missing In Action. He married Nancy Thomas on Dec. 22, 1956 in Troy, N.Y.
Prior to retirement, Hank was employed as a civil engineer with the United States Department of Defense and was formerly employed as a member of the New York State Police. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and enjoyed woodworking, gardening and spending time at the family camp at Canada Lake.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy; two daughters, Linda A. Breen of Andover, Mass., and Susan A. Breen of Hadley, Mass.; two sons, Thomas H. Breen of Rockford, Ill. and Timothy W. Breen of East Syracuse; seven grandchildren: Ryan, Brandon, and Hanna Breen, Travis and Trevor Breen, Thomas Fromey and Carrie Jones; and two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Emileah. He was predeceased by one brother and one sister.
Services will be held at a time and date to be determined by the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Campbell-Dean Funeral Home Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida.
