Mernie L. ‘Tiny’ Baker, 97, of Kirkville
KIRKVILLE>> Mernie L. “Tiny” Baker, 97, of Kirkville, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017, at the Elderwood at Liverpool with family by her side.
She was born Nov. 13, 1919, in Athol, Mass. to Charles and Altha Buzzell. She left school to help the family through the depression by working at the Thom McCann factory in Athol. After moving to New York, she worked for GE for 25 years. She was a life member of the Sylvan Beach American Legion Auxiliary.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Paul and Alvin and her sister in law Linda. She was also predeceased by her grandson Todd Michael Baker and her husband George and best friend Kenneth Dexter.
Surviving is a daughter, Carol Huffman of Hickory, N.C.; two sons George Jr. (Donna) of Chittenango and Robin of Boulder, Colo.; her grandchildren Cassandra Crane (Darrin), Darcy Crofford (Brett), George Baker III (Stephanie), Amanda Crawford, Cheryl Huffman, Alison Lavelle and Edward Huffman. She was a great-grandmother to 11.
She enjoyed family and friends. Her happy times were when she was hosting a party or picnic. No one was a stranger to her; everyone was included in her get togethers.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, 702 Legion Drive, Chittenango. Spring burial will be in Fyler Settlement Cemetery, Kirkville. Calling hours will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday prior to the funeral. G.F. ZIMMER F.H. CHITTENANGO 315-687-3366
