Warren B. Surdam, 95, of Guilderland
GUILDERLAND>> Warren B. Surdam, 95, entered Eternal Life Wednesday, March 22, 2017 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Born in Whitman, Mass. on July 4, 1921, a graduate of Skaneateles High School and Cortland University.
He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, retired Deputy Superintendent of the New York State Police, executive director for MAGLOCLEN, vice president of AEGIS, president of the Trooper Foundation and Gaming Commissioner for the Oneida Indian Nation, with over 33 years of professional field and administrative experience in all phases of law enforcement.
The “Quiet Giant” leaves a lifelong legacy.
Predeceased by his heart mate of 63 years, Victorine (Rene), and beloved son, Michael.
Survived by his loving daughter, Maureen (Tom); precious granddaughter, Tara; cherished grandson, Shaun and treasured Great Grands - Nicholas, Dylan, Aiden, Bridey, Caleb, Faith, Zoey and fur friends, Buddy and “Killer.”
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Warren’s family Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 4-6 p.m. in McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 N. Allen St., Albany. His funeral service will then follow at 6 p.m., concluding with Military Honors.
The interment will be at 12 p.m. the following day, Thursday, March 30, 2017 in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Camden, N.Y. Those wishing to remember Warren in a special way may send a contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
