LATHAM>> Raymond Paul Hart, 89, of Latham, formerly of Canastota and Chittenang­o, passed away on Monday morning, March 27, 2017, in the Haynes House of Hope, Granville, where he had been a patient for the past 19 days.

Born in Chittenang­o on Jan. 22, 1928, he was a son of Theodore and Viola Youmans Hart. A resident of the Albany area since 1969 moving from Chittenang­o, he was educated in Chittenang­o schools. He married Frances Bertolero in Canastota on Sept. 29, 1956.

Prior to his retirement in 1989, Mr. Hart was employed by Penn CentralCon­rail as a foreman and supervisor. Ray was an avid outdoorsma­n enjoying hunting, fishing and trapping. He enjoyed collecting coins and sports cards and formerly was the owner and operator of a bait shop on Oneida Lake. Ray was of the Catholic faith.

Surviving besides his wife, Frances are: four daughters and one son, Catherine and Alan Clark of Pace, Fla., Mary and Peter Walton of Latham, Pa- tricia and William Godfroy of Niverville, Deborah Hart of Greenfield, Ind., and Paul and Joanne Hart of Concordia, Mo.; 11 grandchild­ren; five great-grandchild­ren; five sisters, Elizabeth, Beverly, Joyce, Arlene and Carol and several nieces and nephews. He was predecease­d by four brothers.

Funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017 from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 300 S. Peterboro St., Canastota, and 1 p.m. from St. Agatha’s Church, where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Stephen Wirkes, pastor. Interment will be made in St. Agatha’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., prior to the funeral service.
