Florence M. Davis, 86, of Oneida

ONEIDA >> Florence M. Davis, 86, Hazel Carpenter Home, formerly of Seneca Street and Peterboro Road, Siloam, died Thursday, March 30, 2017 in the Oneida Healthcare Center, where she had been a patient for the past 12 days.

Born in Oneida on Dec. 6, 1930, she was a daughter of Joseph and Margaret Valliere Wimmer. A lifelong resident of the area, Florence was a graduate of Oneida High School. She married Orris L. Davis in St. Francis Church, Durhamville on Jan. 28, 1948.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Davis was employed with Oneida City Schools for 20 years and had previously been employed with Oneida City Hospital. She was a communicant of St. Therese’s Church, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Our Lady 1250, the Women’s Working League and the American Association of Retired Persons.

Surviving besides her husband, Orris, are three daughters and sons-inlaw, Darlene and Brad Gardner of Oneida, Lynda and David DuChene of Canastota and Patricia and Michael Vair of Marion, Ind.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph O. and Patricia Davis of Oneida Castle and Daniel F. and Robin Davis of Bernhards Bay; one sister, Marion Burback of Oneida; 10 grandchildren, Tracy Snyder, Jeff Davis, Joe Davis, Jennifer Russ, Jodi Shantal, Brett Davis, Paige Samson, Ann Marie DuChene, Melissa Vair, and Timothy Vair and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Vair.

Funeral services will be held 10:15 a.m., Tuesday from the Campbell- Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida and 11 a.m. from St. Helena’s Church, where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. William Mesmer, pastor. Interment will be made in Sunnyside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 3-7 p.m., Monday.
