Harry L. Bronson, 95, of Vernon

VERNON>> Harry L. Bronson, age 95, a lifelong Vernon resident, passed away peacefully late Saturday evening April 15, 2017 in the Crouse Community Center after a brief stay at the nursing facility.

He was born on Oct. 4, 1921 in Vernon Center, N.Y., a son of the late Leon and Hazel (Pohl) Bronson and was a graduate of Rome Free Academy.

Harry enlisted with the United State Army on Nov. 11, 1942 and was honorably discharged on April 19, 1946 after serving as a medic for his country.

On Oct. 15, 1949 Harry and May Nuzzo were united in marriage at St. Joseph’s Rectory in Oneida, and have shared this loving vow of more than 67 years together.

Prior to his retirement in 1986 Harry owned and operated his machine shop known as SanKar Tool and Machine Works, named after his two daughters, Sandy and Karen.

Harry was a train enthusiast and history buff. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, hunting and fishing in his spare time.

Surviving are his wife, May Bronson of Vernon; two daughters, Sandra (John) Jollie of Sherrill, Karen Bell and companion David Pagliarli of Camarillo, Calif.; four grandchild­ren, Robert (Venessa) Bell of Rome, Elizabeth Bell of Napa, Calif., Sara and Stephen Jollie of Sherrill; five great-grandchild­ren, Gary, Jack, Nolan, Leo and Madelyn. The family would like to thank grandchild­ren Robert and Elizabeth Bell’s father, Timothy Bell, who was a tremendous help to Harry and May during Harry’s time of need.

The family would like to thank the staffs at St. Luke’s Hospital and the Crouse Community Center for all their fine care shown to Harry during these last months.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from noon till 1 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front St., Vernon, N.Y. Funeral services will be held Saturday at the funeral home at 1 p.m. immediatel­y following the calling hour with the family’s nephew, the Rev. Gary Spraker officiatin­g. Burial will then follow with military honors in St. Helena’s Cemetery, Middle Road, Oneida, N.Y. 13421. In memory of Harry contributi­ons may be sent to the Vernon Vol. Fire Dept., P.O.
