Oneida teams fare well at Utica Notre Dame

Oneida softball swept a doublehead­er Tuesday and the baseball team won a nineinning thriller.

ONEIDA 15, UTICA NOTRE DAME 0 (5 INNINGS) >> Oneida got off to a strong start in Tuesday’s softball doublehead­er, getting a no-hitter from Kyra Shlotzhaue­r who also went 3-for- 4 at the plate with four RBI. ONEIDA19, UTICA NOTREDAME 1 (6 INNNINGS)>> Kylie Chesebro won the second game of the doublehead­er and also went 4-for- 5 with three RBI, two doubles and a triple. Brianna Laureti also had four hits, driving in two runs. WHITESBORO­6, VERNON-VERONASHER­RILL 0 >> The Red Devils were held to just three hits in the road loss.

Baseball

ONEIDA 2, UTICA NOTRE DAME 1 (9 INNINGS) >> Casey Rich drove in the go-ahead run with an RBI single in the top of the ninth inning for Oneida. HAMILTON 9, WEST CANADA VALLEY 7 >> The Emerald Knights jumped out to a 6- 0 lead in the top of the second and added three more in the fourth, enough for Sam Campbell to pitch a complete game for the victory.

Boys Tennis

CHRISTIAN BROTHERS ACADEMY 3, CAZENOVIA 2 >> Nate Romig and Orson Sproule posted victories in first and third singles, respective­ly, for the Lakers but the Brothers took both doubles points and the victory.

Boys Lacrosse

VERNON-VERONA-SHERRILL 20, UTICA NOTRE DAME 3 >> The Red Devils routed the Jugglers for the second straight game, led by three goals apiece from Matt Ciotti, Mike Eastman and Alex Oliver, who also tallied seven assists.

Monday’s Results Baseball

VERNON-VERONA- SHERRILL 3, PROCTOR 2 (9 INNINGS) >> Nate Palmer’s bat helped the Red Devils earn the victory. The junior catcher drove in two runs to tie the game in the bottom of the fifth and also brought home the game-winner in the bottom of the ninth. CAMDEN 13, CANASTOTA 3 >> The Blue Devils scored six runs in the bottom of the third and tacked on four more in the fifth, tallying 11 hits in the victory. ONEIDA 19, CAZENOVIA 5 >> Five

Oneida players had multiple hits and eight drove in runs, led by James Dick who went 4-for- 6 with three runs scored and two RBI in the victory. Jorden Barlow added three RBI in the victory while Lukas Albro scored four runs. CHITTENANG­O 3, JORDANELBR­IDGE 1 >> The Bears scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth to make a winner out of Devon Spaulding, who pitched a complete-game five hitter. STOCKBRIDG­EVALLEY7, OTSELIC VALLEY 4 >> After the Vikings came back with two runs to even the score in the top of the fourth, the Cougars pulled ahead for good with two in the home half of the inning and added an insurance run in the fifth.

Softball

STOCKBRIDG­E VALLEY 15, OTSELIC VALLEY 0 (5 INNINGS) >> Kendra Webb went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI for the Cougars in the victory. Alaina Beane allowed just one hit and struck out nine over three innings to earn the win while Kelly Greene pitched two hitless innings in relief. DERUYTER 3, MADISON 1 (8 INNINGS) >> The Rockets scored twice in the top of the eighth to take the road victory. Courtney Cochran struck out 10 for the Blue Devils and drove in their only run in the loss. CAMDEN 7, CANASTOTA 5 >> Blue Devils’ pitcher Laura VanHoven held the Raiders to two hits, striking out 13 in the victory.

ROME FREE ACADEMY 6, CAMDEN1>> Carson Nedell’s 6- 4, 6-2 victory in second singles accounted for the Blue Devils’ lone point. HAMILTON 5, WESTMORELA­ND 0 >> The Emerald Knights stayed unbeaten with the victory, with every point coming in straight sets. VERNON- VERONA- SHERRILL 6, PROCTOR 1 >> The Red Devils evened their overall record with the victory, led by a 6- 0, 6-1 victory by Kevin Holmes and Angelo Zumpano.

VERNON-VERONA-SHERRILL 232, PROCTOR 301 >> James Renwick took medalist honors for the Red Devils, shooting a 40 at Oneida Community Golf Club. ROME FREE ACADEMY 233, CAMDEN 274 >> Greg Lyon was the Blue Devils’ medalist, shooting a 49 on the front nine at Rome Country Club. Den DeHimer shot a 42 for the 4-1 Black Knights.

ROME FREE ACADEMY 239, CAMDEN 246 >> The Black Knights pulled out the narrow victory at McConnells­ville led by a 52 from Sarah Kirk.
