Stockbridg­e Valley gets no-hitter from Greene

Kelly Greene tossed a nohitter for the Stockbridg­e Valley softball team against Cincinnatu­s.

STOCKBRIDG­E VALLEY 14, CINCINNATU­S 2 >> Kelly Greene tossed a no-hitter for the Cougars, striking out 13 while teammate Olivia Marshall went 3-for- 4 with two doubles and two RBI.

WHITESBORO 5, VERNON-VERONA-SHERRILL0>> The Red Devils were held to just two hits in the loss.

MADISON 11, MCGRAW 3 >> Taylor Strong was a perfect 4-for- 4 at the plate and teammate Taylor Strong went 3-for-5 with three RBI for the Blue Devils.

Baseball

MADISON 13, MCGRAW 2 >> The Blue Devils’ win gave them an 8-2 record in Central Counties League play, clinching at least a share of the league title. Dawson Eckrich earned the win, striking out 13 batters over five innings of relief. Alex Cotter drove in three runs for Madison while teammates Ethan Snyder and Mike Ford each had four hits and two RBI.

VERNON-VERONA- SHERRILL 7, WHITESBORO 2 >> Andrew Roden struck out seven in a complete game victory and also homered for the Red Devils.

Track and Field

TRI-VALLEY LEAGUE CHAMPIONSH­IPS >> The Camden boys team scored 91 points to place second, trailing only New Hartford which finished with 169. Jason Richards was the top individual performer for the Blue Devils, clearing the bar at 12- 6 in the pole vault to take first. Oneida’s Luke Lombardi also cleared 12- 6 for second place. Logan Wendt had a first-place finish for Vernon-Verona-Sherrill in the shot put as well with a distance of 51- 4. On the girls side, Oneida’s Julianna Cavanagh was a double winner with first-place finishes in the long jump (17- 0.5) and triple jump (37- 0.25) while Camden’s Elizabeth Lucason won the 1500 in 4:50.89.

CENTER STATE CONFERENCE II CHAMPIONSH­IPS >> The Canastota boys and girls teams both took first place in their championsh­ip meets at Sauquoit Valley. Adam Van-Valkenburg­h led the boys team with four firstplace finishes, winning the 400 (52.98), 800 (2:11.74), 1600 (4:49.11) and 3200 (10:36.56). Teammate Steven Scaramuzzi­no won two events, the 400 hurdles (1:00.69) and high jump (5-8).

On the girls side, the Raiders eked out a one-point victory over Cooperstow­n to win their title. Devin Lee Robinson led the way with first-place finishes in the 100 (13.10), 200 (27.47) and triple jump (34- 4) while teammate Deanna Carlone won the 1500 (5:18.35) and 3000 (12:00.62).

CENTER STATE CONFERENCE III CHAMPIONSH­IPS >> Second-place finishes from Emma Baker in the shot put (27-1) and discus (76-3), Makenzie Hirsch in the 200 (28.14) and Alexis LaFever in the 3000 (12:11.33) helped Morrisvill­e-Eaton place third in the girls meet.

Dale Lake won the 110 hurdles (16.28), pole vault (12- 0) and triple jump (38- 9.5) while teammate Connor Haugli added a win in the 400 (54.29) to lead M-E’s boys team to a fourthplac­e finish.

TENANGO 3 >> Grant Czarnecki, Cooper Young and Trevor Butler netted goals for the Bears in defeat.

FAYETTEVIL­LE- MANLIUS 22, CAZENOVIA 5 >> Chloe Willard scored twice and teammate Keara Dwyer tallied three assists for the Lakers in the loss.

ONEIDA 249, PROCTOR 274; ROME FREE ACADEMY 216, ONEIDA249>> Oneida’s Jack Kallet shot a 44 to help his team split a tri-match at Crystal Springs.

VERNON- VERONA- SHERRILL 197, NEW HARTFORD 203; VVS 197, CENTRAL VALLEY ACADEMY 265 >> Olivia Evans led the Red Devils in a sweep of the trimatch, shooting a 45 at Oneida Community.

ONEIDA 12, NEW HARTFORD 11 (9INNINGS)>> Jorden Barlow’s two-run walkoff double capped a three-run inning in the bottom of the ninth that gave Oneida the victory while teammate Henry Froass went 4-for-5 with four RBI. VERNON- VERONA- SHERRILL 8, CENTRAL VALLEY ACADEMY 1 >> Anthony Farina tossed a complete game four-hitter with five strikeouts for the Red Devils while teammate Nate Palmer went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two stolen bases in the victory. ROME FREE ACADEMY 7, CAMDEN 1 >> The Black Knights scored twice in the top of the first inning and added four insurance runs in the fifth to earn the victory. PHOENIX 16, CAZENOVIA 4 >> The Lakers appeared to be on their way to a victory with a 4-3 lead through five innings but surrendere­d 13 runs in the bottom of the sixth and lost on the road. DERUYTER 6, MADISON 5 >> The Blue Devils let a 3- 0 first-inning lead slip away despite a 3-for- 4 effort at the plate from Dawson Eckrich. STOCKBRIDG­E VALLEY 14, OTSELIC VALLEY 5 >> Wyatt Becker went 4-for- 5 with three runs scored in the victory for the Cougars and teammate Dylan Anderson went 3-for-3 with two RBI.

Softball

CANASTOTA 4, CENTRAL VALLEY ACADEMY 3 >> Shelby Kilts had the Raiders’ only two hits in the victory, scoring one run and driving in another. STOCKBRIDG­E VALLEY 21, OTSELIC VALLEY 1 (5 INNINGS) >> Jillian Jacobs al- lowed just one hit in the circle for the Cougars to earn her second victory of the season. Olivia Marshall led the attack at the plate for the visitors, going 4-for- 5 with four runs scored and an RBI and teammate Catherine Meeker went 3-for- 4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Madeline Cross added a 3-for- 4 effort with two runs scored and four RBI in the winning effort. ONEIDA 6, NEW HARTFORD 0 >> Oneida scored three runs in the bottom of the first and three more in the bottom of the second to earn the victory. Lauren Skibitski went 2-for-3 with two runs scored for the hosts while teammate Hannah Begay also scored twice, homered and drove in three runs in the winning effort.

CANASTOTA 3, WESTMORELA­ND 2 >> Adam Burbank and Zach Blanchard dropped their first set but rallied back for a 4- 6, 6- 4, 7- 5 victory to help the Raiders net their fifth win of the season. VERNON- VERONA- SHERRILL 5, CENTRAL VALLEY ACADEMY 2 >> Aiden Robinson and Andrew Gowans cruised to a 6- 0, 6- 0 victory in third doubles in the road victory for the Red Devils, who improved to 9- 6. HAMILTON4, MORRISVILL­EEATON 1 >> Geordi Geier and Joy Valencia posted a 10- 0 victory in first doubles to help Hamilton remain undefeated while ME’s Dylan Stoddard won a tiebreaker 7-5 to earn the win in first singles for his team’s lone point. PROCTOR 4, CAMDEN 3 >> Carson Nedell pulled out a 9-7 victory in second singles but it wasn’t enough for the Blue Devils in the first match of a doublehead­er. CAMDEN 4, PROCTOR 3 >> Nate Lucero’s 9-8 victory in second singles helped the Blue Devils earn the win in the second match of a doublehead­er.
