Susan A. Hemmings, 71, of Vernon

VERNON >> Susan A. Hemmings, age 71, of Curtis Road and more recently of the Presbyterian Home of Central New York passed away early Tuesday morning May 16, 2017 at the nursing facility.

She was born on Nov. 21, 1945 in Rome, N.Y. a daughter of the late Howard E. and Anna (Mitchell) Archibee. Susan was a graduate of Camden Central Schools and received her bachelor of arts degree from Nazareth College.

On July 9, 1966 Susan and Robert E. Hemmings were united in marriage in Florence, N.Y. and have shared this union of over 50 years together.

Prior to her retirement Susan was employed as a speech therapist with the Rome School System.

She enjoyed spending her time with her family and vacationing in the Bahamas.

Susan was a member of St. Helena’s Church, the New York State Teachers Association, Rome Teachers Association and the Mc Connellsville Golf Club.

Surviving are her husband, Robert E. Hemmings of Vernon; one daughter, Kristin and son-inlaw Alan Rozanski, and one sister Marie Achibee and brother-inlaw David Jaycox Jr. of North Port, Long Island.

Susan was predeceased by one brother, Lewis “Bud” Archibee.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherrill Road, Sherrill, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 9 a.m. St. Helena’s Church, Primo Avenue, Sherrill, N.Y.

Burial will follow in St. Helena’s Cemetery, Middle Road, Oneida, N.Y.
