Jason J. Hastings, 36, of Sherrill
SHERRILL>> Jason J. Hastings, 36. of East Hinds Avenue, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017, in the Oneida Healthcare Center, shortly after his admission as a medical patient.
Born in Oneida, on Oct. 3, 1980, he was the son of James T. and Cindy Merithew Hastings, Jr. A lifelong resident of the area, Jason was a graduate of Oneida High School, Class of 1999.
Jason was self-employed as a contractor in masonry, snowplowing, and landscaping. He was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving besides his parents, James and Cindy of Sherrill, are his sister and brother-in-law, Melissa and James Coppola of Verona; his brother and sister-in-law, James T. and Beth Hastings III of Saratoga; his four nephews whom he adored, Tyler Sgarlata, Stanley Hastings, Charley Hastings and Ryan Coppola; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held Saturday, at the convenience of the family, from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida, with the Reverend William Mesmer, officiating. Interment was made in St. Agatha’s Cemetery. There were no public hours of visitation. Contributions may be made to Children’s Programs at the YMCA of the Greater Tri Valley, 301 West Bloomfield St., Rome, N.Y. 13440.
