Tenney turned her back on NewYorkers

I’m writing this letter to you regarding Representative Claudia Tenney because she refuses to have any type of town hall forum meeting to answer questions from the people of New York that want answers.

First, she insists that she is voting for the people. She continues to express that the new health care reform is going to help the people of New York but in fact this health care reform is going to hurt the women instead, there’s everything in there for preexisting diseases from acne to rape that will not be covered. There is nothing in this bill about erectile dysfunction as being a preexisting disease.

She continues to express how bad the ACA is; in fact, the ACA has allowed me and other New Yorkers to have affordable health care even though we have preexisting disease. With Trumpcare, not only will I not be able to afford health care, I wouldn’t be able to receive it because of preexisting diseases. She continues to say this is not true, but in fact it is in black and white and because she didn’t read; it she really doesn’t know what’s in there.

I feel and believe that because she and the rest of the government have free universal health care at the expense of the American people they really don’t care what is in the bill, they just want a win from the Democrats. Why can’t or won’t they receive the same health care they give us? What makes them and their families better than the American people?

I feel and believe that she wants be one of the good old boys. She’s a woman supposedly fighting for the rights of women, not only in New York but America, and has turned her back to not only affordable health care but many other issues Trump has reversed executive orders on, such as the Fair Pay Act of 2012 for women. She voted for the rights of people with mental health issues to be able to carry guns, then turned around and voted to cut Medicaid for people who have mental health issues.

This could go on but I won’t. My question to Claudia Tenney is: Why have you turned your back on the people of New York and what pharmaceutical company do you have stock in?

What a great VVS Foundation garage sale

The 23rd annual VVS Education Foundation Garage and Pie Sale on April 29 was our best ever. Again this year, many people donated items, baked pies, bought raffle tickets, gave donations, and came to shop all of which showed support for this very worthy cause.

The Garage Sale committee has so many people to thank for making our 23rd annual sale an amazing success. To start, we give our thanks to the many people who donated items for the sale, especially Sara Getman and Sharon Barattini. In addition, we extend our sincere gratitude to Steve Long and Sara Getman for all their help, and we thank the city of Sherrill for their support of the work we do. We want to thank the Regner family for generously providing a space to store items until the sale. We also want to thank Bob Haldenwang and his crew for their help after the sale. They have provided valuable assistance for many years.

Our raffle, consisting of gift certificates from some of our local merchants and some individually donated items, was outstanding. We encourage all of you who support us to frequent their businesses whenever possible. We thank the following: The Corner Diner, New York Pizzeria, Joe’s Jerky, Taste of China, Arnie’s, and Tops Market in Sherrill; Nicky Doodles, in Verona: Dick’s Sporting Goods in New Hartford; Darla’s Place, Apple Betty’s, The Black Stallion Restaurant, and the Nothin’ Fancy Cafe in Vernon; and the Price Chopper in Oneida. Wewould also like to thank local artist and teacher, Laura Diddle, for her donation of a framed print of her beautiful art. In addition, we would like to thank our pie bakers, including the VVSFCC (Family Career and Community) Leaders of America. We appreciate the time that was spent making all the pies for our sale.

As chairperson, I must say that this sale would not happen without the help of so many amazing people. The following worked many long hours to make this sale possible: John and Peg Paluck, Laura and Fred Diddle, Sis Merrill, Barb Meyers, Ann, Bruce, and Chris Wright, Chris and Roy Regner, John and Carol Wight, Kathy and Jim Woodbury, Steve Long, Sara Getman, Dave Hill, Helene Brewer, Sharon and Pam Davis, Linda Lowry, Mary Kay Junglen, Linda Austin, Andrea Narrow, Jen and Natalie Herzog, Anne Thoma, Chris Marshall, Mollie Foster, Joanne Scanlan, Jeanne Glover, Rema Thirmulpad, Tom Lewin, Donna Robinson, Holly Foster, Ken Brewer, Scott Swayze, Dan Strobel, and Jody and Kip Hicks.

We also want to thank the students who worked at our sale this year: Jarrett Herzog, Nathan Woodbury, Julia Gilmore, Grace Barattini, Emily Rossi, Tim Horodnick, Nate Palmer, and Zack Nell. (If I have overlooked anyone who helped, I apologize.) Everyone deserves a huge thank you for all they did to make our sale such a great success.

Again, many thanks to all who helped us with our sale and who attended. We could not do it without the community support we receive. We hope to see you again next year.
