Fiddler’s Kitchen season kickoff
Old Tyme Fiddlers
The New York State Old Tyme Fiddlers’ Association will celebrate the launch of construction of its new Fiddler’s Kitchen at its annual Season Kickoff Party on Sunday, May 28. Festivities begin with a dish-to-pass luncheon at 12:30 p.m., followed by the ribbon cutting at 2 p.m. and a fiddle jam until 5 p.m., all at the North American Fiddlers’ Hall of Fame and Museum, 1121 Comins Road, Osceola.
The association began raising funds a few years ago to replace the current 34-year-old converted camper/food concession truck and has raised enough to pour the foundation and buy materials to begin construction. A variety of fundraisers are planned while the association awaits results of grant applications.
All facilities are handicapped accessible and the pavilion is enclosable in the event of bad weather. Folding chairs are provided.

Memorial Day observance
The Commander of the Cazenovia American Legion Post 88, Richard Benner, has called the community to come to Memorial Park on Albany Street on Monday, May 29 to participate in the observance of Memorial Day. The Legion Color Guard will step off the parade from the corner of Emory Avenue and Forman Street in front of the high school at 10:30 a.m. rain or shine. Due to the solemn nature of Memorial Day, the Legion asks that there be no commercial or political activity in the parade and no candy throwing.

Corpin graduated from Morrisville-Eaton Central School District with such grades that permitted him to receive a full scholarship to Cornell University and the U.S. Naval Academy. He chose the latter and entered the Naval Academy in 1970. He was also Trident Scholar at the academy, which resulted in a master level research project. He retired as a Naval Commander after 24 years of service.
Following the memorial services all parade participants are invited to the Cazenovia Fire House for a light lunch.

Hamilton Library
On Tuesday, May 30 at 10:30 a.m. there will be Story Time Gardening. If it is not raining, we will have a brief story time inside as usual, then story time families will be invited to help plant seeds outside in our butterfly garden. Please plan ahead and dress accordingly if you would like to participate. Children will need parental supervision during our gardening activities.
Do you enjoy gardening? Are you presently without a space to garden or just looking for some meaningful community service? We have taken great care in planning and investing in new professional landscaping for the library and know how very important routine general maintenance is in keeping up this appearance. We are presently looking for a community volunteer to help us with this. If you enjoy gardening and would like to share a bit of your time and talents with the library, please contact Board President Susan Beattie at (315) 824- 0209.
The library will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day.

CNYSPCA Clam Jam
One of the best things about summer is clambakes. And if you pair a clambake with a great cause, you get the 2017 Clam Jam that will take place from 1-5 p.m. at the Spinning Wheel, 7384 Thompson Road, North Syracuse on June 4. Tickets are $45 in advance and $50 at the door. Children ages 5-9 are $23 each and ages 4 and younger are free.
Along with the clambake with dozens of sides, free draft beer, soda, live music, a photo booth, horseshoes, raffles and adoptable dogs, there will also be (weather permitting) helicopter rides at a cost of $25 each.
Event founder and organizer, Krista Galster, started the Clam Jam three years ago as a way to share her love of animals and give back to the community.
In the first year, 330 people attended. Last year 550 participated and this year Galster hopes to surpass that number. To date, the event has raised more than $13,000 for the CNYSPCA. The shelter receives a portion of each ticket sold as well as the proceeds from the raffles. Buy tickets at the CNYSPCA, at the Spinning Wheel and online at Eventbrite.com.
