Clara B. Wheeler, 86, of Munnsville

MUNNSVILLE» Clara B. Wheeler, 86, formerly of Haslauer Road, Munnsville, died on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, following a brief illness.

She was born Aug. 11, 1930, in Stockbridg­e, daughter of the late Albert and Pearl (Vreeland) Foster.

Clara has lived in the Munnsville area most of her life, attending the Stockbridg­e Valley Central School.

She worked at Oneida Limited in Sherrill for 16 years, retiring in 1992.

Clara enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, sewing, reading, and spending time with her friends and family.

She married Alvin W. “Bud” Wheeler on Dec. 14, 1947, in Canastota. Bud died on Dec. 30, 1996.

Surviving are: two sons and daughters-inlaw, William “Bill” and Sarah Wheeler of Culpeper, Va., and Evan and Maria Wheeler of Cicero; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Connie and James DeLeo of Clyde, Sherry Neff Wall of Oneida, and William Kern of At- tica; one sister, Alma Highers of Oneida; 14 grandchild­ren, 32 great-grandchild­ren; two great greatgrand­children; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Clara was predecease­d by a daughter, Eva Wheeler Kern; and a sister, Ella Dow.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James St., Canastota. The Rev. Ken Guilfoyle, pastor of the Stockbridg­e United Methodist Church, Munnsville, will officiate. Burial will be in Stockbridg­e Cemetery, Munnsville. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In her memory, contributi­ons may be made to the Munnsville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 300, Munnsville, N.Y. 13409, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
