Swimming lesson for Town of Vernon residents
VERNON » The Town of Vernon will sponsor a free instructional swim program for all Town of Vernon residents who are at least kindergarten age by Sept. 1 up to age 12. The program will be held Mondays and Wednesdays for five weeks, June 26 through July 26 at the City of Sherrill pool. All children must have signed permission slips on file at the Town Office Building. Applications are distributed in the elementary school classes and are available at the Town Office Building. Strawberry Festival set for June 20

CAZENOVIA » Cazenovia Public Library will host a special interview with local Korean War veteran Lieutenant Colonel Robert Clark on Friday, June 23 at 6 p.m. in the Community Room. Clark received a Bronze Star for his service in Korea. During the program, he will discuss his experiences and share photos from his time overseas. SHERRILL » The City of Sherrill will hold a public information session on June 19 at 7 p.m. in the City Court facility adjacent to City Hall at 377 Sherrill Road. The purpose of the meeting is to provide a synopsis regarding the city’s exploration of separating from the Town of Vernon. This will be the first of several opportunities for the public to provide their thoughts on the matter. City Commissioners as well as city personnel will be in attendance. ONEIDA » Potted hop plants are available to benefit the Madison County Historical Society for a minimum $5 donation. More than 200 hop plants are ready for purchase now. Plants will also be available at the Hop Shop on Saturday, Sept. 16 during the Annual Madison County Hop Fest. Varieties available include Cascade and “Hedgerow Hops” from the wild stock of the old hop yards near Bouckville, where commercial hop growing was introduced to New York State in 1808. Annual Teddy Bear parade planned
CAZENOVIA » Cazenovia Public Library and Cazenovia Children’s House, Inc. will sponsor the annual Teddy Bear Parade on Saturday, July 1 at 10 a.m. Children will gather with their teddy bears and families at Memorial Park for a simple craft before marching down Albany Street to the library for animal crackers, lemonade, and activities. In the case of rain, the festivities will be relocated to the Library Community Room. SHERRILL » The KEYS Program will host its annual Summer Music Camp July 10-14 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. each day at the Sherrill Kenwood Free Library, 543 Sherrill Road. Children ages 3-8 will enjoy singing, dancing and playing instruments while learning musical notation, rhythms and dynamics. Cost is $7 a day or $35 for the week.
