Touch a Truck Monday in Oneida
Popular event returns to the Glenwood Plaza on Monday from 3-8 p.m.
ONEIDA, N.Y. » Touch a Truck is coming back to Oneida.
The popular event will be held Monday, July 10, from 3-8 p.m. at the Glenwood Plaza parking lot, featuring an assortment of vehicles from throughout the community. Families can get up close and personal with fire engines, police rescue vehicles, construction vehicles, trucks and more.
“We’re really excited to have some brand new trucks and vehicles we’ve never had before,” said event organizer Samantha Haynes, owner of From the Heart Events. But those who want to know what they are will need to attend, because she wants it to be a surprise.
Those who bring a non-per- ishable item will also receive a coupon to Arby’s, which is slated to open in the city later this year. All donations will go to the Karing Kitchen. There will be a tent near the Dollar Tree labeled “donations” where
people can drop off their goods.
Haynes estimates the event draws a few thousand people each year.
“They’re really excited, and it’s really funny be- cause sometimes I go places and hear people talking about it,” she said. “It’s really a labor of love and it’s so important to me that we have fun community events that are free for families to get into that are still super fun.”
Local vendors will also be on hand. Admission to the event is free.
