Rummage sale set for Saturday

CANASTOTA » The United Church of Canastota will hold a bargain basement rummage sale on Saturday, July 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, 144 Center St. A hot dog lunch will be available. Many items will be for sale at bargain prices.

Music on the Green offered July 27

VERONA » First Presbyteri­an Church of Verona will host a free community dinner on July 27 from 4:30-6 p.m. followed by a Music on the Green concert featuring local artists Invisible Rendezvous. Solo artist Kevin Alexander, who recently debuted his album “The Lovely” will be joined by Glenn Asnoe and Elliott Clark to form a trio performing some of the group’s original pieces as well as other popular hits. The public is invited to attend both events. A free will offering will be accepted to support the Verona Food Bank. GiftWrappe­d Luncheon at the Rusty Rail

CANASTOTA » Oneida-Canastota Christian Women’s Club will hold a luncheon on Thursday, July 20 from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rusty Rail, Route 5. The “Gift Wrapped Luncheon” will feature Proverbs 21 Gifts, Bags and Totes with Kristin Muir. Ice cream social planned for July 20

VERNONCENT­ER » Vernon Center United Methodist Church will hold an ice cream social on Thursday, July 20 from 5-8 p.m. in the park on Route 26. Entertainm­ent will be provided by Two Guys with ‘70s Songs & Conversati­on. A variety of sundaes, pie a la mode, strawberry shortcake, ice cream and cupcakes will be available, along with hot dogs, hamburgers and beverages. Non-perishable items will be collected for the local food pantry.

Summer sale in progress

ONEIDA » The summer sale at Second Hand Rose Consignmen­t Shop is underway. Many items are available including plus sizes, and the new Teen Room is open. The shop is no longer accepting summer clothing consignmen­ts but will still accept household items. Second Hand Rose is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 211 Stone St. behind First Presbyteri­an Church.

Vacation Bible School runs July 17-21

VBS offered at Augusta Church

ORISKANYFA­LLS » Augusta Presbyteri­an Church, 2345 Route 26, will host a Vacation Bible School from July 24-28 from 6-8 p.m. each evening. This year’s program is Barnyard Roundup, Jesus Gathers Us In. Kids of all ages are welcome to attend for stories, games, crafts, snacks and singing. The church is also sponsoring Kid’s Night every Wednesday this summer from 6-7:30 p.m.

Old Home Day at Whitelaw Church

CANASTOTA » Whitelaw Presbyteri­an Church will celebrate its 59th annual Old Home Day on Saturday, Aug. 5. This year’s theme is “Power of Music.” The family-oriented day begins with the Grand Parade at 11 a.m. and culminates with the Erick D. Stevens Memorial Fireworks at 9:45 p.m. The highlight of the day will be a Hat Contest judged by the selfprocla­imed Duke and Duchess of St. Johnsville. Other features include arts and crafts, vendors, skill games, musical entertainm­ent, and the local famous Bach-Dunbar Chicken Bar-B-Q, serving from 4-7 p.m. Proceeds will be used to continue the church’s service to the community and donate to local charitable organizati­ons.

Vendors needed for Old Home Day

VERNONCENT­ER » The Vernon Center Old Home Day planned for Aug. 5 still has room for craft and flea market vendors. The cost is $2.50 per front footage of exhibit space. Old Home Day will feature antique and classic cars and tractors, pony rides, kids’ tractor pull, VVS FFA Maple Sugar Sap House, Balloon Walk by Airborne Adventures, pie eating contest and egg toss. The food court will be open all day. Following the 9:30 a.m. parade around the park, music will be provided by Fritz’s Polka Band, Double Chase, Nelson Brothers Band and Sherry Ann Lints.

Senior ministry offered Wednesdays

VERONA » St. Peter’s Lutheran Church will hold a Christian Ministry for Seniors each Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 4897 Old Oneida Road. There will be coffee and conversati­on, Bible study, and at 10:30 a.m. a special program will be held. There will also be exercise and lunch at noon.
