Brookfield couple killed in motorcycle crash

» Police are investigat­ing a three vehicle crash that cost two Madison County residents their lives.

New York State Police say Theresa Woolsey, 46, and Douglas Woolsey, 50, both of Brookfield, were killed when their motorcycle slammed into the back of a van in the Town of Warren, in Herkimer County, on Sunday.

The crash that occurred on State Route 20.

On July 16, 2017 at approximat­ely noon, a 1996 Dodge van was stopped on Rt. 20 attempting to make a left turn into the driveway at 4152 Route 20 when a 2003 Honda Motorcycle, towing a trailer, failed to observe the vehicle stopped and rear ended the van.

The operator of the motorcycle, Douglas Woolsey and his passenger, Theresa Woolsey were both ejected from the motorcycle which came to rest on its left side in the westbound lane.

The impact of the crash forced the van into the eastbound lane where it struck a 2004 Jeep, operated by BruceH. Vanbrink, of Cooperstow­n, sending the Jeep off the shoulder of the roadway where it overturned on its roof.

The operator of the Dodge van, Jonathan A. Neitzey, age 23, from Bowie, Marylandwa­s transporte­d to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstow­n with minor injuries.

Theresa Woolsey was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Douglas Woolsey was transporte­d to Bassett Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

Vanbrink, age 56, of Cooperstow­n, was transporte­d to Bassett Medical Center with non-life threatenin­g injuries.

The investigat­ion is continuing.
