CANASTOTA » Shelia R. Harrington, 76, of 8599 State Rt. 13, Canastota, died on Saturday, July 22, 2017, surrounded by her family at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on Jan. 22, 1941, in Canastota, daughter of the late Thomas and Evelyn (Hilts) Rogers.

Shelia lived in Canastota all of her life, wintering in Jensen Beach, Fla. She graduated from Canastota High School.

She married Gary P. Harrington on Dec. 10, 1960, in Canastota. Gary died on Feb. 19, 2012.

Shelia was a local business owner, wife and mother, who together with her husband, Gary, owned and operated Gary’s Auto Parts in Oneida for many years. She loved her family and friends, and had an amazing smile and a strong positive spirit. Gary and Shelia enjoyed traveling, and taking their grandchild­ren camping.

Surviving are: four daughters, Tammy Harrington and spouse, Karen Leach, of Munnsville, Renee and James Clancy of Waco, Texas, Jody and Anthony Armstrong of Chittenang­o, and Jill and Allen Olmsted of Manlius, 11 grandchild­ren, Graham and Anna Leach-Harrington, Priscilla and Jordan Wood, Tess and Stephen Clancy, Allison and Aaron Borowski, Tanner, Isaac, Adeline and Estelle Olmsted; two great grandchild­ren, Lorelei and Lincoln Wood; two brothers, Ronald Leonard and Donald Leonard, both of Canastota; one brother-inlaw and sister-in-law, Robert and Linda Harrington of Syracuse; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Thomas Clancy; as well as several spe- cial nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James St., Canastota. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home. The Rev. Mick Keville, Senior Pastor of CrossRoads Community Church, Chittenang­o, will officiate. Burial will be in Whitelaw Cemetery, Canastota. In her memory, contributi­ons may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North St., Liverpool, N.Y. 13088, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
