SHERRILL » Mary Elizabeth Crumb, age 93, a long time resident of Gordon Avenue passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon July 22, 2017 in Upstate Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born on Dec. 27, 1923 in Utica, N.Y. a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Vaeth) Flood and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy.

On May 11, 1946 Mary was united in marriage to the love of her life, Milton Spur Crumb Jr. and shared this love of over 65 years together until Milton’s death on Feb. 20, 2011.

Prior to her retirement Mary spent a long and extensive career as an administra­tive assistant with the Whitesboro School System.

Mary was an avid reader, enjoyed playing bridge, crossword puzzles, watching Yankee baseball and was a devoted NY Yankee fan. She was a member of St. Helena’s Church of Sherrill and the Oneida Healthcare Auxiliary and volunteere­d at the hospital for many years.

Surviving are her one son, Michael and daughter-in-law Diane (Pole) Crumb of Sherrill; two daughters, Jane Mariani of Oneida and companion Bill Hiscox, and Maureen and son-in-law Paul Cioffi of South Carolina; five grandchild­ren, James Mariani of Sherrill, Jill Baty of Sherrill, Kelly (Jamie) Moran of East Syracuse, Matthew (Kristyn) Crumb of Verona and Carrie (Craig) Ison of Columbus, Ohio; eight great-grandchild­ren and several nieces and nephews.

Mary’s many friends will always remember her sense of humor and funloving nature. She loved her family and friends and treasured time spent with them.

Mary was predecease­d by her parents; husband, Milton S. Crumb Jr.; infant daughter, Suzanne Jane Crumb; granddaugh­ter, Christine Cioffi and brother, Francis Flood.

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherrill Road, Sherrill, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 11 a.m. in St. Helena’s Church, Primo Avenue, Sherrill, N.Y. Burial will follow in St. Helena’s Cemetery, Oneida, N.Y.
