The Madison County Democratic Committee is endorsing Ann Jones as its candidate for county clerk.

She will compete against Republican nominee Michael Keville for the post.

Jones has been working at the Board of Elections since 2004 and is currently serving as the Democratic Deputy Commissioner.

“I’m running for county clerk because I want to ensure that the incredible customer service the clerk’s office staff already provides will continue, and there is always room for growth. I also want to expand round-the-clock online services, which will save taxpayers money,” Jones said. “I strongly believe that the county offices need to work for every citizen. We need to ensure that government services are efficient and accessible to all. I have had ample opportunity, through formal education, work experiences, and serving the community, to build

a solid leadership platform that includes positive thinking, confident communication skills, and proven leadership abilities.”

Jones’ extensive community service includes being a past board member of Community Action Partnership, Bridges – Mad- ison County Council on Alcoholism & Substance Abuse, Cazenovia League of Women Voters, and the Fenner Renewable Energy Education ( FREE) Center. She has also served as a parent advocate for the Committee of Special Education in the Cazenovia School District, steward for the Gerrit Smith Estate, dispatcher for Cazenovia Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps (CAVAC), mentor with Community Action Partnership, and she is a past co- chair of the Madison County Employee Assistance Program (EAP). She also volunteers at the Nelson Odeon.

Jones has a bachelor’s degree in education from SUNY Cortland and a master’s degree in public administration from Marist College. Jones lives in Fenner with her husband, Scott, on the family farm where they raised their two children.
