Suzan C. Marshall, 66, of Canastota

-

CANASTOTA » Suzan Cheri Marshall, 66, of 7882 State Route 13, Canastota, graced the heavens on Sunday, June 11, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. She left her body peacefully while at home, quietly slipping away while taking a nap with her beloved husband.

“Suzie” was born on May 26, 1951, in Inglewood, Calif., daughter of the late Col. Don H. “Doc” Blanchard, USMC, and Margaret J. “Margie” (Anderson) Blanchard. She grew up a military brat, living in several different states, including Texas, California, Virginia, Maryland and Hawaii. Suzie moved to Hawaii in 1975, where she met her husband, William D. “Bill” Marshall, and was married in front of the King Kamehameha statue in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Dec. 31, 1977.

She always had a love for all animals, including her Siamese cats, various birds and parrots, numerous rescued baby animals, and most of all her German Shepherds. Suzie started training her first GSD at a very young age, eventually becoming a renowned breeder, trainer, and exhibitor of German Shepherds. She was active in her local and national German Shepherd Dog clubs over the years, and owned the #1 GSD and Herding Dog #4 All Breeds for three years, (Geneva).

Suzie and her family moved to Canastota, N.Y. in 1990, where she ran a boarding kennel, The Aloha Pet Lodge, for many years, and became a familiar friendly face to all while she worked the nightshift at the Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppe in Canastota, until she re- tired in 2012.

She loved to read, sew, sing, and travel, especially taking the kids and grandkids on “Great Escapes” to see the sights. Suzie was the neighborhood Mom and Grandma to all, a faithful confidant and shoulder to cry on, and her doors were always open to those in need.

Suzie is sorely missed by her devoted husband, William D. “Bill” Marshall; her three daughters, Maggie and James Case of Canastota, N.Y., Jessika Moore of Lexington, Ky., and Dwn Marshall and Ryan Ball of California; 11 grandchildren, Douglas “Scotty” Blanchard-Marshall, Phillip “PJ” Case, Rachael Case, Ammalani Ball, Malakhiyah Ball, Ezri Ball, Judah Ball, Jaedyn, Kye, Kori, and Amaya Moore; her big sister, Donna Ruth Blanchard; niece, Kelley Sibrel; nephew, David Zorich; as well as many other special nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and many very dear friends, including her Nice N Easy customers and the German Shepherd Dog community. Suzie was predeceased by her brother, “Captain” John Calloway.

Please come and join us in celebrating her life at a Memorial Luau this Saturday, July 29 at 1 p.m. at 7878 State Route 13, Canastota, N.Y. 13032. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J.
