Three charged in Canal Road meth bust
1720 Canal Road: Police confiscate $26,000 worth of meth
ONEIDA, N.Y. » Three people have been charged after the Madison County Sheriff’s Office conducted an early morning raid on a suspected methamphetamine lab in Oneida Thursday.
The county SWAT team raided 1720 Canal Road around 5 a.m. following an investigation by narcotics investigators. Police say the lab was located in an adjacent building similar to a large storage shed, where they found approximately 261 grams of meth, which has a street value of more than $26,000.
“Specially trained tactical deputies made entry into the lab to find a very dangerous and active operation, contained in a highly caustic and volatile environment,” said Undersheriff John Ball. He said deputies found awoman during their search, and each person underwent extensive decontamination on the scene by EMS and fire personnel.
Alan Blake, 55, of Oneida; Brian James, 33, of Oneida; and Nicole Delfino, 30, of Syracuse, were arrested.
Blake was charged with one count each of second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, both felonies.
James was charged with one count each of second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, both felonies.
Delfino was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
“The location of the lab was a good distance from any other residence, so the public was not in danger during this incident, but it was in close proximity to a fairly busy roadway,” Ball said. “The lab environment was very explosive and hazardous.”
No neighboring residences required evacuation.
Blake and James were arraigned in Oneida City Court and held at Madison County Jail on no bail/bond. Delfino was processed and released on an appearance
ticket and will answer charges in Oneida City Court at a later date.
This is not the first time Blake has had a run-in with police over meth. He was charged with possession and manufacture of methamphetamine at a bust at the same residence in 2016.
This investigation is continuing and additional charges may be forthcom- ing.
Assistance at the scene was provided by the NYS Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team, Oneida Fire Department, Oneida Police Department, and Vineall Ambulance.
