Goodweathe­r expected through the weekend

GEDDES » After a rainy Wednesday filled with tornado watches and warnings, the New York State Fair looks to get back on track with a stretch of sun in the weekend forecast.

Following a 30 percent chance of rain forecasted for Geddes on Thursday, the National Weather Service is calling for three straight days of sunshine.

Today marks $3 Thursday at the Fair, and will offer fair-goers an opportunit­y to check out the recently unveiled butter sculpture honoring the 100th Anniversar­y of the New York State Police.

Thursday begins with an American Quarter Horse show at the Toyota Coliseum beginning at 7 a.m. followed by a Llama Show at 9 a.m. in the Goat, Llama and Swine barn.

Daily, the Witter Agricultur­al Museum will host basketmaki­ng and soapmaking courses beginning at 10 a.m. in addition to its authentic 1800’s cabin display. The Iroquois Indian Village will liven with traditiona­l native dances at 11 a.m., 4 p.m. and again at 7 p.m.

Other daily shows include Hollywood Racing Pigs, live shark encounters, Giraffic Menagerie Petting Zoo, and Pirates of the Columbian Caribbean.

4-H’ers invade the Fair on Friday with sheep fitting and holstein dairy competitio­ns during the morning. Friday also offers an opportunit­y for fair- goers to test their brawn with a hay bale throwing contest at noon in the Beef Cattle Barn.

Turning Stone chefs and Beth Scott, of Pampered Chef, will host demonstrat­ions in the Wegman’s Kitchen at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m., respective­ly.

4-H competitio­ns will continue on Saturday with poultry and holstein and milking shorthorn showmanshi­p shows at 9 a.m. and a noontime sheep show wool competitio­n. Also on Saturday, Syracuse Dance Factory will take the Empire Theater stage for an 11 a.m. routine.

The Chevy Court headliners for the next three days include:

•Thursday - Chevelle - 8 p.m.

•Friday - The Beach Boys - 7 p.m.

•Saturday - Symphoria - 8 p.m.

Lakeview Amphitheat­er will host Brantley Gilbery Friday beginning at 7 p.m. and The Future Hndrxx Tour on Saturday beginning at 7:30 p.m.
