Richard H. Chapman, 76, of Kirkville
KIRKVILLE » Richard H. Chapman, 76, of 7793 Brownell Road, Kirkville, passed away on Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.
He was born on June 3, 1941, in Rochester, the son of Lennon Chapman and Phyllis (Hone) Chapman.
Richard spent his early years in Rochester, graduating from Monroe High School. He has been a resident of Kirkville for the past 17 years.
He was a salesman for B.R. Johnson, Inc. in East Syracuse for 47 years and President of Airways Door Company, retiring in 2013. Richard was a member of the N. Syracuse Jaycees for many years and the Syra- cuse Builders Exchange.
Richard enjoyed Formula 1 and NASCAR racing, golfing, traveling, camping, and bowling.
Richard married the former Donna Jurjens on May 9, 1968 in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Syracuse. The couple was blessed with over 49 years of marriage.
Surviving are his wife Pastor Donna Chapman of the Whitelaw Presbyterian Church: one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Richard Karbowniczak of Kirkville; one brother and sister-in-law, Philip and Carol Chapman of Rochester; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and James Carey of Buffalo, Joan and Keith Moniger of Rochester; two grandchildren, Jonathan Karbowniczak and Mathew Karbowniczak; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 3127 James St., Syracuse, N.Y. The Rev. Peter Reddick will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Whitelaw Cemetery, Canastota. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James St., Canastota. In his memory, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 2 Clinton Square, Suite 305, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, N.Y. and the American Diabetes Association, 6390 Fly Road, East Syracuse, N.Y. 13057, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Crouse Hospital, especially acknowledging the 4th floor cardiac unit for the care and compassion they shared with Richard and their family throughout his stay with them. They would, also, like to acknowledge the staff of St. Joseph’s Wound Care Center in Fayetteville for the care and special attention shown to Richard.
