March of Dimes campaign to begin

WILLIAMSVILLE » Tops Friendly Markets will begin its annual campaign for March of Dimes at all locations beginning Aug. 20 through Sept. 9.

Customers can support the March of Dimes Prematurity campaign by donating a $1 or round up their change at any participating TOPS, where 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to help reduce the risk of premature births.

Additional store events including basket raffles, auctions, and other special events will also be held to support the campaign. TOPS has been working with the March of Dimes since 2003 to give every baby a fighting chance and has donated more than $250,000 in cash and in-kind services to support the organization.

“Tops Markets strongly believes in giving back to the community and improving the quality of life of children. With the help and compassion of our associates and customers, we know we can make a difference supporting the March of Dimes Prematurity Campaign.” said Andy Brocato, director of community relations for TOPS.

The March of Dimes aims to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant immortality. Donations help fund research to identify causes of premature birth, increase public awareness, educate women on risk-reduction strategies and advocate for improvement of maternity and child health care services.

Since 2003, the March of Dimes has helped decrease the premature birth rate to 9.6 percent in 2014 surpassing its 2020 goal. To learn more about the March of Dimes, visit www.marchofdimes.org
