Guest pastor at Union Chapel

Take out dinner set for Sept. 9

ONEIDA » St. John’s Episcopal Church will hold a ham and scalloped potato dinner on Sept. 9 from noon to 4 p.m. at the church, 341 Main St. The meal is take out only. Tickets are $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and $5 for children 12 and younger. Tickets for a queen size quilt raffle will be available for $1 each or six for $5. Proceeds will benefit the church’s Prayer Quilt Guild.

Vendors needed for tag sale

CHITTENANG­O » St. Paul’s Church is looking for vendors, people with home based business or someone looking to sell those items they have no need for anymore. The church’s Annual Tag Sale is set for Saturday, Sept. 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Indoor spaces are available for $15 – the church will supply tables and chairs. Chicken and biscuits served Sept. 21

WESTMORELA­ND » Westmorela­nd United Methodist Church will hold a chicken and biscuit dinner on Thursday, Sept. 21 beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the church, Main Street. The menu will include chicken in gravy, biscuits, mashed potatoes, vegetables, dessert and beverages served buffet style. Take- outs will be available. Golf tournament will benefit medical mission

ONEIDA » The 6th Annual Golf Tournament for the Nicaragua Medical Mission will take place Friday, Sept. 22 at Kanon Valley Country Club. Registrati­on is at 11 a.m. with lunch at 11:30 a.m. followed by a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. The fee of $90 per person includes lunch, cart and green fees, and dinner. There will be prizes for Team Best Score, Longest Drive, and Closest to the Pin. All proceeds will provide medication­s for the next Medical Mission.

Rummage and bake sale slated for Sept. 8-9

ONEIDA » New Hope Christian Community Church will hold a rummage and bake sale on Friday, Sept. 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a bag sale on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donations can be brought to the church, 1904 West Road, beginning Aug. 28.

Super Jam 2017 planned for Sept. 10

SYLVAN BEACH » The Super Jam 2017 fundraiser will be held on Sunday, Sept. 10 from 2- 6 p.m. at Harpoon Eddie’s on Park Avenue, to support the Raising the Roof Fund and other restoratio­n projects for Sylvan Beach Union Chapel. Musicians will include Mark Bolos, Dale Brown, CATO, Bernie Clarke, Dave DeSantis, Skosh Fearon, Joe Ferlo, Liz Friedel, Rick Kimball, Lisa Murphy, Juliane Price and Aaron Scott. There will be raffles and for a $5 donation, attendees can ring the chapel’s bell. Donations for the “Raising the Roof Fund” may be mailed to: Sylvan Beach Union Chapel, P.O. Senior ministry offered Wednesdays

VERONA » St. Peter’s Lutheran Church will hold a Christian Ministry for Seniors each Wednes- day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 4897 Old Oneida Road. There will be coffee and conversati­on, Bible study, and at 10:30 a.m. a special program will be held. There will also be exercise and lunch at noon.

Friendship Inn open each Thursday

MORRISVILL­E » Friendship Inn at St. Joan of Arc Church offers a free weekly meal to the Morrisvill­e community every Thursday from 5- 6:30 p.m. Non-denominati­onal and open to all, regardless of financial need, Friendship Inn draws on a small army of volunteers who fulfill numerous tasks, from setup, cooking, serving, to clean-up. Volunteers are always needed. Donations are welcome as well to supplement food offerings and to purchase equipment and supplies. Clothing donations accepted at St. John’s Church

ONEIDA » St. John’s Episcopal Church, 341 Main St., has been chosen by St. Pauly Textile, Inc. as a repository for used clothing. St. Pauly’s mission is to provide wearable clothing to people who need it, both in the United States and Third World countries. Items that can be collected include clothing, shoes, sneakers, belts, purses, linens, blankets, curtains and stuffed toys. No rags or fabric scraps, pillows, toys or household goods are accepted. Donations are not cut up or shredded. Items should be placed in plastic bags (no larger than 13 gal. size) and placed in the chute of the shed located on St. John’s driveway. Donations are acceptable any time of the day or night. This mission has provided more than 30 million garments to people all over the world who are in need.
