Career & College Center marks 35 years
The center offers students and alumni a hub for preparing for college, employment, the military and more.
VERONA, N.Y.» The Vernon-Verona-Sherri ll High School celebrated 35 years of assisting students in reaching their goals and aspirations. Not found in many schools, this unique center serves as a hub for students preparing for college, employment, the military and other career options.
The Career & College Center is located in the Guidance Office and is open to all students.
The center is manned daily by trained coordinator Randy Thomas, an 18-year veteran to the district.
The Career and College Center is a vital component of the school counseling program and also serves alumni.
“In collaboration with the school counselors, we help students choose college and career pathways aligned with their own interests, skills and values,” said Thomas.
The Career & College Center helps students explore a variety of career, college, and military options. College and military representatives visit the Career & College Center throughout the year to meet with students and help them learn about college and military career options.
The center has a Naviance/ Fami ly Connection website setup for students to do college searches, career research, and to view local and national scholarship opportunities. There are 20 laptop computers available for use.
The center also assists with the scholarship and college application process, helps students find part time jobs, and internships and shadowing experiences.
