School project to undergo some tweaks

Dear Community Members: Last year, the Morrisville-Eaton Central School District proposed a district-wide capital project that included significant renovations and improvements to our facilities. You and your neighbors voted overwhelmingly in favor of completing that work. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and to offer some updates on the project.

Following your approval of the project, we went to work with our construction team to design the project and develop more accurate estimates on the work. As project development evolved, the estimates for the cost of the work came in higher than anticipated. Knowing the necessity of the work included in the project proposal, our board and administrative team have been working with our architects, construction manager and attorneys on a solution.

We believe that with some modifications to the project scope, we will still be able to meet the needs of our students, enhance the appearance of our buildings, and keep the majority of the work intact, remaining on schedule and within the budget. The changes in scope will not affect the work identified in the Energy Performance Contract approved last winter.

Please join us for a special board meeting on Monday, Oct. 2, at 6 p.m. in the Middle/High School Library, when we will finalize the scope of our capital project. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (315) 684-9300.

Sincerely,
