Regan opened the scoring in the second quarter when he found Kevin Stalder on a 95-yard pass to increase the Laker lead to 28-0. Following a Dan Kent safety for Cazenovia, the Laker’s special teams provided the next score when Matt McLaughlin took a kickoff 55 yards to the house for the touchdown and a 37-0 lead.

Macheda rushed for his third score of the day in the third quarter before CVA crossed the goal line for its first score of the day in the final quarter of action to bring the score to 44-8 and ruin the shutout.

MADISON 1, STOCKBRIDG­E VALLEY 0 » The Blue Devils continued their winning ways on Saturday, knocking of the Stockbridg­e Valley Cougars under the lights at Morrisvill­e State. Ethan Snyder scored off of a Brady Strong assist for the game’s only score, and Madison prevailed 1-0. With the win, coach Michael Strong’s Blue Devils improve to 7-1-1 in league play.

CAZENOVIA 3, SAUQUOIT VALLEY 0 » Allie Vanetti’s two scores helped power Cazenovia past Sauquoit Valley on Saturday. Jaime Joseph added a tally of her own and Hannah Matteson posted eight saves in the Laker shutout. ROME FREE ACADEMY 2, ONEIDA1 » Rome Free Academy took advantage of a penalty kick in the 87th minute of action in a contest with Oneida to win 2-1. With the loss, Scott Fallon’s Oneida side falls to 10-4 on the season.

Cross Country

NEW HARTFORD 52, VERNON-VERONA-SHERRILL 57, JAMESVILLE-DEWITT 66 » The Vernon-Verona-Sherrill boys cross country squad finished the Whitesboro Invitation­al in second place out of a pool of 12 teams. OwenWalker finished second overall on the day with a 17:30.5, trailing only New Hartford’s Josh Farmer on the day. Owen Rose and Spencer Walker also finished in the top ten for the Red Devils.

MADISON 2, CINCINNATU­S 2 » Madison and Cincinnatu­s battled to a 2-2 draw on Friday. Ethan Snyder scored twice for the Blue Devils in the second half to help his team climb out of a 2-0 halftime hole, but the hosts were unable to tack on another tally for the win.
