The Oneida Daily Dispatch (Oneida, NY)
Keville best choice for county clerk
Having served as the Madison County Clerk and Records Management Officer for the past four years, as well as the Deputy Madison County Clerk for the previous eight years, I have a unique understanding of required skills and experience necessary to effectively lead the clerk’s office. Budgetary and accounting competency to handle the $13.5 million of Clerk and DMV offices, legal literacy to ensure the office processes are in compliance with NY State and federal mandates, and management skills (including customer service experience) is mandatory.
Only one candidate in the race for Madison County Clerk has all three qualifications for the job. Mayor Mike Keville from Chittenango.
As a mayor and as a business owner, Mike Keville has experience with budgeting and accounting. The over eight-figure revenue which passes through the Clerk’s office must be meticulously allocated to more than 20 different accounts. In order to continue present revenue growth, the next clerk must possess this governmental, real-life experience to enable the county in holding the line on property tax rates.
As mayor of Chittenango and as a member of the Sullivan Town Zoning Board, Mike Keville has demonstrated a proficiency in legal literacy, which will serve him well as he must read, interpret and apply state statutes and administrative orders to the day-to-day operations of the Clerk’s office. Adherence to these requirements is a significant aspect of the job. Mike understands the importance of protecting the original documents in the county archives and following mandated retention schedules to stay in compliance with state law. He values personal privacy and understands how to protect your personal in- formation.
As a successful business owner, teacher, and former commissioned associate with JC Penney, Mike Keville has developed the skills necessary to lead the staff of 20 in serving the public efficiently and cordially.
It is with excitement that I endorse Mike Keville to continue to lead the Madison County Clerk’s Office into the future, confident he will bring to bear his varied experiences in finance, legal literacy and customer service while continuing to grow the revenue of the office and offering firstrate customer service that has been the focus of our office. ited resources and the nature of complex and sometimes dangerous police investigations, the ability to work together is critically important to protect the public and other public safety officers.
In addition to the Criminal Division the Sheriff is tasked with the responsibility of managing the county jail. This challenging function calls for careful fiscal management and John has demonstrated his ability to manage this important obligation. He has also led the effort to maintain agency accreditation for the jail.
John’s other accomplishments include an emphasis on Community Policing, which is simply promoting the presence of the MCSO throughout the county to serve our residents and visitors in areas like traffic safety, school safety, victim advocacy, and crime prevention. John, working with former Sheriff Riley has also been successful in obtaining grant funding for various programs and services.
Experience is critically important in law enforcement and John Ball has more experience than any recent candidate for Sheriff in Madison County. I encourage you to vote for John Ball and keep his experience working for all of us.
