HOLLAND PATENT 2, CAZENOVIA 1» Emily Mierek and McKenna Williams each scored for Holland Patent each scored for Holland Patent as the Golden Knights knocked off defending Class C Section III champion Cazenovia 2-1 in overtime on Sunday. Zoe Shepard’s second half score forced OT, but the Golden Knights answered in extra time to come away with the win.

Saturday’s Results Football

CAZENOVIA 61, WESTHILL 18 » Quarterbac­k Matt Regan passed for four scores and rushed for another to lead the Cazenovia Lakers past Westhill to advance to the Section III Class B football semifinals.

The Lakers controlled this one from the start, jumping out to a 21-0 advantage in the first behind a pair of Regan throws to Jake Macheda and Kevin Stalder, respective­ly. Macheda scored the third touchdown in the first on a 16-yard run.

Stalder reeled in another score in to open the second, and Will Huftalen joined the party with two touchdown receptions, one from Regan and one from Macheda before Westhill got on the board with a Wyatt Lavigne scoring reception.

Boys Soccer

LYME 2, MADISON 1 » Ethan Snyder’s lone goal was not enough for the Blue Devils as they fell to Lyme in the Section III Class D quarterfin­als on Saturday. Alec Cotter recorded 16 saves in the effort for Madison. With the loss, Madison closes the season with a 12-5-1 overall record. BISHOP LEDDEN 2, HAMILTON 1 » Hamilton fell to Bishop Ludden in the quarterfin­als of the Section III Class D soccer tournament by a tally of 2-1 on Saturday. Erik Geier scored a goal for the Emerald Knights and Quinn Robertson posted 10 saves while minding the net for Hamilton. The Emerald Knights close the season with a 13-4-1 overall record.

Cross Country

VVS finished 6th of 13 in Varsity Seeded Race and 2nd in the small school division at the Marathon Invite on Saturday. Owen

Walker led the way with a 3rd overall finish with a 16:49 over the rolling 5K Course.

•Robbie Vandresar, 47th - 18:29;

•Andrew Wright, 53rd - 18:49;

•Trevor Kline, 56th - 18:55;

•Matthew Palmer, 62nd - 19:04;

•Damien Muessig, 65th - 19:19; •Joe Guertin, 76th - 19:33. “Robbie Vandresar was the most exciting to see for us today as he contin- ues to improve race after race, rounding into Championsh­ip form as sectional season approaches,” Coach Mike Dunne said, before adding, “Owen [ Walker] and Owen [Rose} were great as usual.”
