CANASTOTA » Justine M. Alicandro, 91, of 203 Lamb Ave., Canastota, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, at her home, following a brief illness.

She was born on Sept. 13, 1926, in Canastota, a daughter of Ernest and Josephine (Raineri) Venturine.

Justine has lived in Canastota all of her life, graduating from Canastota High School in 1944.

She worked as a legal secretary for Attorney Sebastian Patane for 35 years, and later worked for the Kiley Law Firm, retiring in 1989. She served as an election inspector for the Town of Lenox and Village of Canastota for many years.

Justine is a member of St. Agatha’s Church, Canastota and the Altar Rosary Society, as well as, a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Canastota American Legion, Charles Miller Post No. 140, and a former member of the Canastota Lionettes.

She enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchild­ren. Justine was a wonderful person who loved everyone, and was loved by all.

She married Thomas P. Alicandro Sr. on Feb. 7, 1948, in Canastota.

Surviving besides her husband, Tom, are: one son and a daughter-in-law, Thomas Jr. and Eileen Alicandro of Selkirk; one daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Daniel Brown of Canastota; one sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and James Childress of Romney, W.V.; five grandchild­ren, Michelle and Jeff Lawrence, Lara and Michael Katz, Nicole Brown, Patrick Alicandro, and Danielle Brown; three greatgrand­children, Natalie Rissman, Jackson Katz, and Olivia Katz; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins

Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at St. Agatha’s Church, Canastota, where a Funeral Mass will be held. The Rev. Stephen P. Wirkes will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agatha’s Cemetery, Canastota. Calling hours will be held on Friday, from 4-7 p.m. at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James St., Canastota. In her memory, contributi­ons may be made to St. Agatha’s Church, 329 N. Peterboro St., Canastota, N.Y. 13032, or to the Greater Lenox Ambulance Service, (GLAS), P.O. Box 382, Canastota, N.Y. 13032, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
