ONEIDA CASTLE » Wanda F. Ready, age 86, a longtime resident of Seneca Avenue and more recently of Preswick Glen of New Hartford passed away Tuesday evening Oct. 24, 2017 in St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, N.Y.

She was born on Jan. 31, 1931 in Buffalo, N.Y. a twin daughter of the late Neil Sr. and Agnes (Latrace) Fifield and was a graduate of Sherrill High School.

On Nov. 26, 1949 Wanda and Robert Arthur Ready were united in marriage in Plymouth Church of Sherrill and shared that union of nearly 54 years.

Prior to her retirement in 1987 Wanda was employed with the Rome DDSO. With her busy work schedule Wanda always found time to volunteer with the Girl Scouts, the Oneida PTA and ARC. Wanda served with the Board of Directors of the Madison-Cortland ARC for over 25 years. She received the Roses of the Living Award from the Oneida Rotary in 1999 and 2005.

Wanda was a longtime member of Cochran Memorial Church of Oneida Castle.

Surviving are her three daughters and two sonsin-law, Roberta and Jerry Mansfield of Kansas, Ruth Ready of Oneida, Cynthia and Dr. Joseph Manzi of Selkirk; five grandchild­ren and their spouses, William (Whitney) Mansfield of Kansas, Meredith (Garrett) Royston of Kansas, Laura (Ryan) Decker of New York, Deirdre (Ryan) McCasey of Wisconsin, Stephanie Manzi of New York; two great-grandchild­ren, Isebelle Decker and Elena McCasey, and one brother, Neil N. Fifield Jr. of New York.

Wanda was predecease­d by her husband, Robert and twin sister, Wenda Whitford.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherrill Road, Sherrill. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in Cochran Memorial Church, 11 State St., Oneida Castle, N.Y. Burial will follow in Oneida Castle Cemetery, 2nd Avenue, Oneida Castle, N.Y.
