Coat giveaway, remembrance service at Augusta Church

ORISKANYFALLS » Augusta Presbyterian Church, 2345 Route 26, will hold a free coat giveaway at the church from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 4. Members of the public are invited to come and pick up free winter coats. This week’s Sunday worship at 10 a.m. will honor family and friends who passed away during the last year, including Fannie Mae Terrier, a longtime member who passed away earlier this year.

Swiss steak served at VernonUMC

VERNON » Vernon United Methodist Church, Route 5, will hold a Swiss steak dinner on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 4-6:30 p.m. The menu will include Swiss steak, mashed potatoes with gravy, vegetables, beverages and homemade pies for dessert. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for ages 6-12 and free for children 5 and younger. Ten percent of proceeds will go to a mission. Take outs are available by calling (315) 829-3535.

Basket Bonanza set for Nov. 4

VERONA » Basket Bonanza will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 4897 Old Oneida Road on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will include theme baskets, special item raffles, a 50/50 raffle and baked goods. Lunch will be available. For information, call (315) 363-5211.

“Amazing Prophecies” series continues

Harvest Supper planned forNov. 8

ONEIDA » St. Paul’s 84th annual Harvest Supper will be held Wednesday, Nov. 8 at the church, 551 Sayles St. Dinner will include roast pork and all the homemade trimmings including dessert. Family style seatings will be held at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The cost is $11 adults, $5 for children 5-10, and free for ages 4 and younger. Take outs are available 4:30-6:30 p.m. for $10. Annual coat giveaway at FirstUMC

ONEIDA » Oneida First United Methodist Church’s 18th annual Coat Giveaway will be held Saturday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon at the church, Main and Grove streets. Registration will be held at 8:45 a.m. Shopping in groups of 30 begins at 9 a.m., limited to 20 minutes per group. At 11 a.m., all are welcome to return and select coats as needed. Donations of gently used coats, snow pants, boots, hats, mittens and scarves can be brought to the church Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon, using the Grove Street door. CANASTOTA » Believers’ Chapel will hold a chicken and biscuit dinner on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 4-7 p.m. at the church, 2657 Seneca Turnpike. Proceeds will benefit the Nicaragua Medical Mission. The menu will include chicken and biscuits, mashed potatoes, salad, dessert and beverage. The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children 5-12 and free for ages 4 and younger.

Fantasy Fair slated for Nov. 10-11

SHERRILL » Christ Church United Methodist will hold its 52nd Annual Christmas Fantasy Fair on Friday, Nov. 10 from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Christ Church is located at the corner of Noyes Boulevard and Park Street. An elevator is located at the Park Street entrance. There will be Antiques & Collectibles, Christmas & Fall Decorations, Fresh Bakery & Canned Goods, Children’s Toys & Clothing and Crafts & Needlework items. All crafts and food are homemade by church members and friends. On Friday evening, slices of homemade pie and a choice of beverage will be served for $3.50. On Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. a hot lunch will be served for $6. Children 6-12 are $3 and children 5 and under are free. All proceeds are used to support missions.

Concert planned at Plymouth Alliance Church

SHERRILL » Plymouth Alliance Church will host a concert by musician Ken Medema on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 3 p.m. at the church, 169 Kinsley St. Nonperishable food items for the Verona Food Pantry will be accepted in lieu of an admission fee. VERONA » Verona United Methodist Church will hold its 25th annual Holiday Craft Show on Nov. 18 at the church on Main Street in Verona. The event will feature area crafters, Christmas wreaths, pictures with Santa, antiques, white sale and a bake sale table. Lunch will be available including hot dogs, tuna and egg salad, sausage, peppers and onions, chili and vegetable soup and homemade pie slices or whole pies to take home. We also have a coffee/tea gift basket door prize.
