Re-elect Clancy for legislator

-

My name is Mike Clancy and I am writing this letter because I am running for re-election as an Oneida County Legislator. My district includes nine election districts in Rome and two in Verona. I would like to tell you a little about my involvement in our community, some issues that I continue to work on and ask for your support on Election Day.

My wife, Robin and I have lived in Verona for 38 years. Our son Patrick is a VVS graduate, also lives in Verona and is a pharmacist at Price Chopper. I served 21 seasons as Verona and/or VVS Little League president and two as the treasurer of VVS Babe Ruth. For the last 18 years I have been proud to be the treasurer of the Verona Volunteer Fire Dept. and privileged to serve with some of the finest, most dedicated members of our community. The have honored me with The Fireman of the Year award twice, the highest honor I have ever received.

Each time that the funding to the Verona VFD was cut from the Oneida County budget, I have fought successfully to get it restored. This funding is critical to being able to maintain and provide the level of EMS, fire and accident first response capability that we volunteered to provide to the residents and visitors to our town and that they deserve.

I would like to be elected to another term to be able to finish several projects with which I am involved:

•Moving the NYS Fire Training Academy to Oriskany from Montour Falls, bringing jobs and tax revenues to Oneida County.

•Helping the Town of Verona with purchasing a piece of property near Exit 33 to allow economic development which brings jobs.

•And, of course, continuing to fight for the funding for the Verona VFD as well as Host Benefits for the Town of Verona

I ask that you please consider casting your vote for me next Tuesday.

Mike Clancy, Verona
