Cavanagh, Boylan newest supervisors
ONEIDA, N.Y. » Tom Boylan unseated Lewis Carinci to join Joe Magliocca as supervisor forOneida Wards 4-6.
Boylan received 483 votes, Magliocca received 436 votes, and Carinci received 329 votes, according to the Madison County Board of Elections’ unofficial results.
“On a personal level, I’m happy with the outcome and the opportunity again to represent Oneida,” Magliocca, a Democrat, said.
“I feel good and think we’re bringing in fresh ideas,” Republican Boylan said. “We all want to improve the city, but first we need a plan, a written plan.”
Carinci, a Democrat, served as supervisor since 2007.
Carinci said that while the race was enjoyable, he was sad he lost. “I gave the county 10 great years. It givesme incentive next election.” Carinci said he’s working on his “next adventure” and is looking to run for mayor next time around. “It’s a dream I’ve had, to follow in my uncle’s footsteps.”
Republican newcomerMary Cavanagh will join incumbent John Reinhardt as supervisor for Oneida Wards 1-3. They edged out Margaret Milman-Barris, who was ap- pointed by Mayor Leo Matzke to fill a vacant seat left by former Re- publican supervisor Scott Henderson, who resigned in April.
Unofficial results put Cavanagh at 1,048 votes, Reinhardt at 871 votes, and Milman-Barris at 636 votes.
“It was a good run and I enjoyed it,” said Milman-Barris.
She said she plans on remaining active in the community, where she serves on the board of directors for Celebration Children’s Center and several political committees. She also hopes to continue advocating for childcare affordability.
Both Reinhardt and Cavanagh did not return phone calls in time for publication.
