Local municipali­ties planning ceremonies

Central New York communitie­s will honor veterans on Saturday with a plethora of events.

The following are a brief listing of Veterans Day events in the region.

Canastota

Canastota American Legion Post 140 will hold the following events on Saturday, Nov. 11:

Services at Mount Pleasant Cemetery at10 a.m., Canastota Municipal Building at 10:30 a.m. an d

Clark Part at 11 a.m.; Flag Burning at the post home at 1 p.m.

Legion family and public are encouraged to attend. Therewill be a luncheon and refreshmen­ts at the post home following services at Clark Park.

Cazenovia

Cazenovia American Legion Post 88 will hold a Veterans Day gathering at Memorial Park on Albany Street on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.

After the ceremony all veterans and their families are invited to the Cazenovia American Legion’s Post Home on Chenango Street for lunch pro- vided by Post 88’s American Legion Auxiliary.

Oneida

Oneida Legion Post 169 will hold a free spaghetti dinner for all veterans on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 5-7 p.m. The meal is open to the public for a $5 donation.

Flag retirement ceremony will close dinner. All are welcome to have their old, worn American flags properly retired.

Sherrill

Sherrill American Legion Post 230 will host a Veterans Day Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. in Memorial Park. All are invited to an open house following the ceremony at the Legion.

Vernon

The Town Board of the Town of Vernon will hold a Veterans Day ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial in front of the Town Office Building, 4305 Peterboro Road. Katie Yahns and V.V.S. F.F.A. students will be participat­ing in the readings. Refreshmen­ts will follow. Everyone is welcome.

Wampsville

Madison CountyWAVE­M will hold a Veterans Day ceremony at the Wampsville Veterans Memorial on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. Guest speaker will be Gary Ford, a retired teacher from Rome Free Academy, who helped create a Veterans Oral History Project at North Broad Street School in Oneida.
