John J. Denison, 86, of Oneida

ONEIDA » John J. Denison, 86, Marble Road, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 8, 2017, at his residence, following a brief illness.

Born in Arcade, on April 4, 1931, he was the son of Wyman and Ruth Mc Laughlin Denison. A resident of this area for the past eight years, John was a graduate of Arcade Central Schools and Erie Community College, and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with United States Navy aboard the USS Vermilion. His wife, the former Nancy Ashworth, died in October of 2009.

Prior to his retirement, John was employed as an electrical engineer. He was a member of the Vernon Baptist Church and enjoyed the outdoors, his grandchildren, his church, the woods, technology and mowing his lawn.

Surviving are his three sons, John F. (Eileen) Denison of Oneida, Ted Deni- son and Greg Denison, both of Charlotte, N.C.; his daughter, Rachel Jones of Charlotte, N.C.; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Fellows on March 31, 2017 and a son, Christopher Denison on June 22, 1977.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday from the Vernon Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Jones, pastor, officiating. Interment will be made in Arcade Rural Cemetery at 11 a.m., Monday. Friends may call at the church, 12-1:30 p.m., Saturday, prior to the funeral service.
