Oktoberfest a great success

-

The Canastota American Legion Auxiliary Unit 140 and its Oktoberfest Committee would like to thank everyone that attended our fifth annual Oktoberfest. This is our biggest fund raiser and it enables us to continue helping our community and other groups in need. There are so many jobs with this type of event and we are fortunate enough to have people to help out in all areas.

We ended up with 40 baskets to raffle, a TV raffle, a Wal-Mart Gift Card raffle, the 50/50 and a surprise at the end of the day. A drawing was held for $100 cash for those that purchased tickets for the event itself. The weather was perfect; the food was great and the music by “Miller Time” (Scott Miller) was great as always.

There are so many people to thank and there is no way possible to do it, as we don’t want anyone to be left out. We do however want to extend our most sincere thanks to the Legion, Commander Garlock and members, and also Commander Church and members of the SAL. Many of our own members, Legionnaires, Auxiliary and SAL, are always giving of themselves and their time as well. Thank you all so much for your continued support and talents year after year.

We also have many volunteers that are not members that continue to help and support us throughout the year in many ways. We are so very lucky and thankful that you wish to share your time and talents with us, you all know who you are. Thank you!

There are numerous businesses in the community that donated in one way or another, and many of them continue to support us year after year. Once again, we appreciate your part in making the Oktoberfest a success again this year! By Paula Stratton, Secretary, Canastota American Legion
