FFA members take part in several competitions
Members of the Stockbridge Valley FFA demonstrated their skills during the New York State Fair.
GEDDES, N.Y. » The Stockbridge Valley FFA goes to the State Fair every year to have members compete in different FFA Career Development Events such as Wildlife ID, Tree ID, Environmental Science, Dairy Handlers, Vegetable ID, Agronomy, Meats ID and in the NY Beef Council’s Perfect Burger competition.
This year, the Stockbridge Valley FFA was chosen to have dinner with New York FFA State Officers and the National FFA President David Townsend because of the work they put into their FFA booth in the FFA Building.
The Stockbridge Valley FFA had several members competing in both the ju- nior and senior level competitions. The first day of the Fair, members competed in the Vegetable ID. Logan Godarie and Austin Nolley competed with Godarie bringing home ninth place individual.
On the third day of the Fair, Rebecca Ax competed in Dairy Handlers.
The fourth day of the Fair was a busy one, with three competitions held including Meat ID, Agronomy, and Milk Quality and Products. Godarie andAx competed in Senior Meat ID and got sixth place team, with Abby Smith placing first for Junior Meats ID and Ethan Smith placing second. They were also the first team for Meats ID. In Agronomy, Godarie and Austin Nolley competed and got eighth place team.
On the fifth day of the Fair, Ax, Godarie and Nol- ley competed in the Perfect Burger Competition, bringing home third place team.
On the eighth day of the Fair, Godarie, Tanner Dager, Adriene Byron, Nolley, Jimmy March, Brandon Eastman and Josh Wagner competed in Wildlife and Tree ID for senior division, and Ethan Smith, Alex Smith, Abby Smith, and Alissa Mayze competed for junior division. Dager, Nolley, Godarie, and Byron brought home sixth place team andWagner, Eastman and March got 10th place teamfor the senior division. For the Junior division, Alex Smith, Abby Smith, Ethan Smith, and Mayze got first place team.
In addition, Ax, Nolley, and Wagner participated in the AIM conference. Wagner also volunteered for the Ag Career Day with Elizabeth Collins and Barbara Guinto. Finally, Ethan Smith, Alex Smith, Abby Smith, Michael Andrews, Rachel Menning and Pam Menning participated in making corsages for the CNY Gladiola Society.
