FFA mem­bers take part in sev­eral com­pe­ti­tions

Mem­bers of the Stock­bridge Val­ley FFA demon­strated their skills dur­ing the New York State Fair.

GEDDES, N.Y. » The Stock­bridge Val­ley FFA goes to the State Fair ev­ery year to have mem­bers com­pete in dif­fer­ent FFA Ca­reer De­vel­op­ment Events such as Wildlife ID, Tree ID, En­vi­ron­men­tal Sci­ence, Dairy Han­dlers, Veg­etable ID, Agron­omy, Meats ID and in the NY Beef Coun­cil’s Per­fect Burger com­pe­ti­tion.

This year, the Stock­bridge Val­ley FFA was cho­sen to have din­ner with New York FFA State Of­fi­cers and the Na­tional FFA Pres­i­dent David Townsend be­cause of the work they put into their FFA booth in the FFA Build­ing.

The Stock­bridge Val­ley FFA had sev­eral mem­bers com­pet­ing in both the ju- nior and se­nior level com­pe­ti­tions. The first day of the Fair, mem­bers com­peted in the Veg­etable ID. Lo­gan Go­darie and Austin Nol­ley com­peted with Go­darie bring­ing home ninth place in­di­vid­ual.

On the third day of the Fair, Re­becca Ax com­peted in Dairy Han­dlers.

The fourth day of the Fair was a busy one, with three com­pe­ti­tions held in­clud­ing Meat ID, Agron­omy, and Milk Qual­ity and Prod­ucts. Go­darie andAx com­peted in Se­nior Meat ID and got sixth place team, with Abby Smith plac­ing first for Ju­nior Meats ID and Ethan Smith plac­ing sec­ond. They were also the first team for Meats ID. In Agron­omy, Go­darie and Austin Nol­ley com­peted and got eighth place team.

On the fifth day of the Fair, Ax, Go­darie and Nol- ley com­peted in the Per­fect Burger Com­pe­ti­tion, bring­ing home third place team.

On the eighth day of the Fair, Go­darie, Tan­ner Dager, Adriene By­ron, Nol­ley, Jimmy March, Bran­don East­man and Josh Wag­ner com­peted in Wildlife and Tree ID for se­nior di­vi­sion, and Ethan Smith, Alex Smith, Abby Smith, and Alissa Mayze com­peted for ju­nior di­vi­sion. Dager, Nol­ley, Go­darie, and By­ron brought home sixth place team andWag­ner, East­man and March got 10th place team­for the se­nior di­vi­sion. For the Ju­nior di­vi­sion, Alex Smith, Abby Smith, Ethan Smith, and Mayze got first place team.

In ad­di­tion, Ax, Nol­ley, and Wag­ner par­tic­i­pated in the AIM con­fer­ence. Wag­ner also vol­un­teered for the Ag Ca­reer Day with El­iz­a­beth Collins and Bar­bara Guinto. Fi­nally, Ethan Smith, Alex Smith, Abby Smith, Michael An­drews, Rachel Men­ning and Pam Men­ning par­tic­i­pated in mak­ing cor­sages for the CNY Gla­di­ola So­ci­ety.
