CHITTENANG­O » Steven F. Layo, “Primo,” 65, passed away peacefully Nov. 11, 2017 following extensive surgery at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y

Born in Massena on March 18, 1952, he was the son of the late Kenneth J. andAudreyM. DishawLayo. He is survived by a brother, John Layo and sister, Mary Layo Rochefort of Massena; mother of his children, BrendaWait­e Layo; children ShaneM. Layo (Nicola Layo) and Hope M. Layo (Sean Young); grandchild­ren Nathan Lynch, Jesse Layo and Sophia Young; partner Cindy Dykeman along with her daughters Jennifer Sale and Tanya Dykeman, her son, Jason Brown, and her grandchild­ren, Alexis, Amber, Maleea, Brandon, Nathan and Christophe­r, and great-grandchild­ren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predecease­d by a brother, Kenny Layo.

Steven (a. k. a. “Big Daddy”) was a devoted father who enjoyed working with his hands and greatly enjoyed time with family, loved bowling, cars, his pets, fishing, his tattoos, and his love for auto body.

Steven attendedMa­ssena schools and shortly thereafter married Brenda G. Waite Layowho gave birth to their two children and moved to Chittenang­o. Brenda remained a friend and an integral part of his life.

He worked for Sun Chevy, Chuck’sAutoBody andK&C Auto Body, where he became nicknamed “Primo” by his coworkers.

He will be deeply missed by his friends and family and all who knew him. At Steven’s request, there will be private services for burial at Calvary Cemetery inMassena.
