Reisman mayoral challenge shows need for change

-

I would like to take this time to formally thank every- one who has supported my husband, Gary Reisman Jr., throughout his journey in running for mayor.

It all started back in June when Gary became the endorsed Republican mayoral candidate. It was at this time that Gary stepped up and presented a unique opportunity for the city of Oneida. Gary was going to be challenging the status quo and he knew it was going to be an uphill battle. Gary, who is not a politician, entered the mayoral race late, was unknown to the majority of the city, and didn’t have ties and relationships across the city.

Running for office, as I could have only imagined but now I fully understand, is no easy task. It is time-consuming and emotionally draining for all involved. Gary put himself out there for the residents of the city and gave Oneida a choice to move forward with a new vision.

As we all know, it was a very close race, which speaks volumes about the hard work Gary put in over the past several months. Gary fully immersed himself into this role by spending countless hours going door-to-door and having meaningful conversations with the residents of our city. Gary heard the voices of the people, including their concerns and new ideas for the city. Being a concerned citizen himself, Gary’s main objective was to be the voice of our concerned citizens.

I have immense pride in Gary for taking on this enormous task and for speaking the truth about the issues our city is facing. The election results are proof that many residents are in fact ready for a change, which makes me feel optimistic for the future.

Once again, thank you to all of our family, friends, and community members who took a chance by voting for Gary this year. The support did not go unnoticed and we are very thankful. Congratulations to Gary for running an honorable and honest campaign and stepping up to the plate when it was needed. Rest assured, this will not be the last time you hear the name Gary Reisman Jr.
