ONEIDA » Barbara Anderson, 88, formerly of Oneida Towers, passed away early Wednesday morning, Nov. 29, 2017, in The Grand at Rome, where she had been a resident for the past seven weeks.

Born in Oneida on Dec. 11, 1928, she was the daughter of Charles L. and Grace Berow Mott. A lifelong resident of the area, raising her family in Verona, Barbara was educated in Oneida High School. She married George F. Anderson in Oneida on Aug. 31, 1947. Mr. Anderson died on Feb. 26, 1990.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Anderson was employed with the former Rome Developmen­tal Center as an aide. She was a member of the Verona United Methodist Church where she participat­ed in bake sales and taught seamstress classes. Barbara was a member of the former Women of The Moose in Oneida where she showcased her seamstress talents by making and donating a Christmas present of a doll with a full wardrobe. Her love of sewing is a passion that she passed down to her daughters.

Surviving are: six daughters and four sons-in-law, Christine and Frederick Bachmann of Oneida, Elizabeth and Paul Haley of Sherrill, Polly S. Meade of North Carolina, Amy and Paul Steele of Virginia, Leslie Flekenstei­n of North Carolina and Barbara and Ray Wright of Virginia; one daughter-in-law, Nora “Dee” Anderson of Rome; 20 grandchild­ren; 38 greatgrand­children; three greatgreat-grandchild­ren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predecease­d by a daughter and son-inlaw, Margene and Anthony Libertino; a son, G. Michael Anderson; two brothers, Charles L. Mott Jr. and Mertin Mott and three grandchild­ren, Katie, Todd and Danny.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida, with the Rev. Steve James, officiatin­g. Interment will be made in Stockbridg­e Cemetery on Monday at 10 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 2-3 p.m, prior to the funeral service.
