Bar­bara An­der­son, 88, of Oneida

ONEIDA » Bar­bara An­der­son, 88, for­merly of Oneida Tow­ers, passed away early Wed­nes­day morn­ing, Nov. 29, 2017, in The Grand at Rome, where she had been a res­i­dent for the past seven weeks.

Born in Oneida on Dec. 11, 1928, she was the daugh­ter of Charles L. and Grace Berow Mott. A life­long res­i­dent of the area, rais­ing her fam­ily in Verona, Bar­bara was ed­u­cated in Oneida High School. She mar­ried Ge­orge F. An­der­son in Oneida on Aug. 31, 1947. Mr. An­der­son died on Feb. 26, 1990.

Prior to her re­tire­ment, Mrs. An­der­son was em­ployed with the for­mer Rome De­vel­op­men­tal Cen­ter as an aide. She was a mem­ber of the Verona United Methodist Church where she par­tic­i­pated in bake sales and taught seam­stress classes. Bar­bara was a mem­ber of the for­mer Women of The Moose in Oneida where she show­cased her seam­stress tal­ents by mak­ing and do­nat­ing a Christ­mas present of a doll with a full wardrobe. Her love of sewing is a pas­sion that she passed down to her daugh­ters.

Sur­viv­ing are: six daugh­ters and four sons-in-law, Chris­tine and Fred­er­ick Bach­mann of Oneida, El­iz­a­beth and Paul Ha­ley of Sher­rill, Polly S. Meade of North Carolina, Amy and Paul Steele of Vir­ginia, Les­lie Fleken­stein of North Carolina and Bar­bara and Ray Wright of Vir­ginia; one daugh­ter-in-law, Nora “Dee” An­der­son of Rome; 20 grand­chil­dren; 38 great­grand­chil­dren; three great­great-grand­chil­dren; and sev­eral nieces and neph­ews. She was pre­de­ceased by a daugh­ter and son-in­law, Mar­gene and An­thony Lib­ertino; a son, G. Michael An­der­son; two broth­ers, Charles L. Mott Jr. and Mertin Mott and three grand­chil­dren, Katie, Todd and Danny.

Funeral ser­vices will be held 3 p.m. Satur­day from the Camp­bell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida, with the Rev. Steve James, of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment will be made in Stock­bridge Ceme­tery on Mon­day at 10 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Satur­day from 2-3 p.m, prior to the funeral ser­vice.
