CANASTOTA >> Rachael Ann “Pie” Ball, 33, of Canastota, passed away unexpected­ly on Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at her family’s home in Canastota, after a brief illness. She was born on Feb. 22, 1984, in Oneida, the daughter of Gina Manning and Larry S. Ball. Rachael was a graduate of Canastota High School, Class of 2002. She went on to attended SUNY Alfred and Onondaga Community College. Rachael was most recently employed by the ARC of Madison-Cortland as a caretaker in a group home in Canastota and worked for several years as a home health aide in Syracuse. Rachael loved animals. She was always drawn to helping and caring for any animal in need. Rachael had an infectious smile and a love for her family and friends. Surviving besides her mother, Gina Manning and her partner and “Pops” as Rachael loving called him, Thomas Kaulback, of Canastota; are Rachael’s longtime partner, Joe Kaulback, of Canastota; Tom’s children, Tom Jr., William, Geoffrey, and Brittney; her maternal grandfathe­r, Harry Manning, of Mooresvill­e, N.C.; her aunts, Renee Manning, of Manlius, and Karen Ball and her companion, Christine Wooten, of Columbus, Ohio; two uncles, J. Martin “Marty” Ball, of Canastota, and Edward (Antonia) Kennedy, of Huntersvil­le, N.C.; her father, Larry (Dorothy) Ball, of Canastota; a half-brother, Alexander Ball, of Canastota; a halfsister, Emily Ball, of Canastota; and many beloved cousins and dear friends. Rachael was predecease­d by her maternal grandmothe­r, Frances “Quankie” Manning; and paternal grandparen­ts, J. Homer and Dorothy Ball. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, at 7 p.m. at the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., where the Rev. James Harriff will officiate. Graveside services will take place on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Whitelaw Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call on Friday prior to the service from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home, 342 Main St., Oneida.
