Local law enforcement take training course
Multiple officers from Central New York take part in training program
Six Oneida County Sheriff’s Office supervisors joined 30 other law enforcement officials.
Six Oneida County Sheriff’s Office supervisors, along with 30members of other law enforcement agencies, have completed leadership training.
The officers took the International Association of Chiefs of Police “Leadership in Police Organizations” course, a 120-hour program, inclusive of graduate-level material, that involves completing several objectives, including:
•Understanding and applying modern behavioral science and leadership theories that affect humanmotivation, satisfaction, and performance in the achievement of organizational goals.
•Learning frameworks to organize knowledge and experience into effective leader actions.
•Integrating course content into daily leadership practices.
•Inspiring a lifelong commitment to the study and practice of effective leadership.
Graduates include Captain Lisa Zurek, Lt. Tony Branham, Lt. Craig Critelli, Lt. Tim O’Halloran, Lt. James Paravati, and Sgt. Peter Kallaur.
The course was sponsored by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services at no cost to the attendees. Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol intends to continue to facilitate agency supervisors attending this course as he believes its content provides a well-bal- anced education for the application of the theories leadership and science management within criminal justice organizations. Maciol has attended the administrative overview of the LPO course and Undersheriff Robert Swenszkowski attended the course in 2016.
