RONALD E. CHASE SR.

BLOSSVALE >> Ronald E. Chase Sr., 78, of Blossvale, N.Y. passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was born Feb. 14, 1939 in Canton, N.Y. a son of Donald and Lola Trudell Chase. He served with the U.S. Army from 1957-59. On Jan. 24, 1960 he married the former Helen Herringshaw in Sodus, N.Y. She passed away March 16, 2007. He then married Patricia L. Bielby on Nov. 11, 2011 at the Vienna United Methodist Church. Ron worked for many years for Marshall and Houseman Co., as their parts manager prior to becoming a franchised owner/operator of Snap-On Tools. He was self-employed for 25 years. Surviving besides his wife, Patty, are three daughters, Karen and Stephen Gates, North Bay, N.Y., Kimberly Walters, McConnellsville, Kathy Cobb and Bill Portner, Vienna; two sons, Donald and Amy Chase, Ronald Chase all of Camden, N.Y.; a step-son, Robert Smith, Blossvale, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Chase, Canton, N.Y. and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Patricia Sevey and Leona Chase; a half-sister, Deborah Herringshaw; a halfbrother, Edward Chase; his in-laws, Robert and Bernice Allison and a step-son, Melvin Smith. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday from the LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, N.Y. Private interment McConnellsville Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home, 109 Main St. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Boys Town, Omaha, Neb. or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.
