Blessing Box dedication
VERONA » Boy Scout Troop 25 and the Church Mice of St. Peter’s Lutheran have teamed up to install a Blessing Box at the Verona Fire Department at 5555 Volunteer Ave. A Blessing Box (also known as a Little Free Pantry) is a small wooden box with shelves and a door mounted on a post, where people are invited to place food and toiletry items for their neighbors in need. The concept can be summarized as “give what you can—take what you need.” It supplements existing food pantries and feeding programs. The Scouts constructed the Blessing Box with materials purchased by the Church Mice. Volunteers will check the box periodically to make sure nothing dangerous or inappropriate is left, and to make sure the box is in good working condition.
The Verona Blessing Box will be dedicated this Saturday, Feb. 10 at 9 a.m., weather permitting. The community is welcome to attend. The Blessing Box is already open for service. To volunteer to check on the Blessing Box or for more information, call (315) 363-5211.
